Guy was pretty wealthy. I don't know about tech stuff, but they certainly had a computer and a landline in the least. He could have called 911. It sounds like he fell around the kitchen area, so it seems safe to assume that he was somewhat mobile.

But its certainly possible imo that she committed suicide and he fell and hurt himself in grief, and was unable to get up and died of natural causes from being immobile.

ETA: Gene obviously has looked very old for a long time. She was only 63. But i'm curious how long they had been passed away. If more than a couple days, with their wealth and a house that size I'm sorta shocked someone didn't come by sooner.

Bedridden might not be the correct term, but she was his caretaker, and he was well into his 90’s and frail. Reports are her body was more decomposed than his.

After a certain amount of time not seeing her, he did his best to go find her. He fell in the mud room, and couldn’t get up.

Again, that’s not my theory, but a fear. She was much younger and was the caretaker for her husband and pets. Once she was gone, then there was no one around to care for her husband and pets.

You try making it to 95 without any dementia issues .

Whenever you hear someone marvel about how some random 90 year old or 100 year old person is “as sharp as a tack” it’s because it’s RARE to not have dementia issues at that advanced age .

There was a space heater really close to her body. I wonder if the warmer temp sped up decomp.

Hopefully that's a euphemism because it wouldn't be a bad way to go, at least for him.

that fox article says that the 911 caller said that the house was locked and he couldn't get inside, but could see her on the bathroom floor through the window...but when the deputies got there, they reported that the door was open...i guess there will be some conflicting info until the investigation is a little further along...

and to the poster(s) wondering if there was a large gap in the times of their deaths, there's this:

quote:

A search warrant affidavit obtained by Fox News Digital revealed that Hackman's wife was found decomposed with bloating on her face and mummification in her hands and feet.

Hackman was found to have the same signs of decomposition as his wife.

idk if that specifically means they both died within a relatively short time frame, but i doubt there was a huge gap...

Which brings it around to where she passed away and he just aimlessly walked around for a couple of days unable to comprehend the situation

He played the Everyman, better than anyone in cinema.

My favorite because it was one of my grandpa’s favorites, when I watch it, I can still hear his voice and smell my grandparent’s home.

Gotta feel bad for the hourly employees at the Santa Fe ServPro getting that job.

the articles i've seen do not mention that the space heater was actually turned on...nbc reported that the deputies said it look to them like she fell and knocked the heater on the floor...but no mention whether it was turned on...

Was there something out there about him having dementia?

I don’t know the statistics on that, but I had a relative live to almost 101 with zero dementia.
My Mom is almost 92 and plays bridge with 3 women who are all well older than she is and still drive. Mom doesn’t.
I went to a funeral last weekend for a woman just short of 99. I was amazed to see so many men and women there at 94 and older. Second funeral in a month where there were a lot of folks in their 90’s in attendance. I’m truly impressed.
