If you can't hear the PJ influence in Creed and Nickleback then I don't know what to say. STP ripped them off too but at least they did a good job.

The first album by Creed, I can see as having some PJ influence. But it's more the vocal style. Not really the music. What's sad is if Creed would have stopped there, they'd probably not have become a laughing stock of crap rock.

STP might have a few songs that resemble, but again, it's mostly the muffled deep vocal sound. I find there stuff to be pretty varying in style. Lady Picture Show to Sex Type Thing. And neither resembles PJ to me.

Hanging? It just doesn't make any sense. I guess we'll have to wait and hear from his band mates as to why CC killed himself? Maybe they'll have some insight.

Wow, this is eerie as shite. Song wasnt on the setlist

(CNN)

In my time of dying, I want nobody to mourn
All I want for you to do is take my body home

Those are the opening lines to the last song Chris Cornell ever sang on stage. It was a cover of Led Zeppelin's "In My Time of Dying."

Cornell and his band Soundgarden have covered the song before and they did it again to close out the show at Detroit's Fox Theater on Wednesday. Just hours later, Cornell was found dead. He was 52.

"Honestly something looked off last night with him," concert attendee Joey Mugan told CNN. "I just didn't think about it because the show was great."
Mugan managed to grab the set list from the front of the stage. On it, the encore performance is different than what was actually played, which isn't that unusual for a live rock show.

The next morning, when he learned Cornell was dead, Mugan said it was hard to believe he had seen him perform less than 12 hours before.

Badmotorfinger was the shite...

I saw them open up at the PMAC for Guns and Roses right when this album first came out. They blew the lid off the arena. Had no idea who Soundgarden was before that show. Still my favorite Soundgarden album but I liked pretty much everything Cornell was associated with.

I was at that show, too, but was already familiar with Soundgarden. They made G 'n R look like schoolchildren that night.

Things went from "get off the stage so we can hear Guns play" to "whoa, who the frick are these guys" REAL quick. Guns didn't get the same reaction from the crowd until they got to the portion of their set with the Appetite stuff. They ran the very real risk of getting upstaged at their own show. That's how good Soundgarden was that night.

Absolutely. Like the previous poster before you said "they made Guns and Roses look like schoolchildren".

I think it took everyone until the Appetite stuff to get past the show they had just heard Soundgarden give. It was just monstrous and everyone was in shock. They were by far the better band and worth the ticket price even had Guns walked off the stage after 3 songs.

ETA I think it was Jesus Christ Pose that night that set the crowd off. It was a continuous flow of sensory overload.

It's hard for me to believe the lead singers of Nirvana, AIC, STP, and now Soundgarden are all gone. The nostalgia from my youth took another hit today. Terribly sad day.

God, this is depressing. Badmotorfinger and Superunkown were seriously impressive back-to-back rock albums. "Slaves and Bulldozers" has one of the most impressive rock vocals I've ever heard - pure power.

I remember seeing a youtube video of him doing a surprise cover of "I Will Always Love You" on his acoustic guitar after Whitney Houston died. He had some major balls to try that and it actually sounded extremely good. RIP.

His cover of Imagine will probably always be my favorite cover of his. Will probably try and listen to all the ones I haven't heard this weekend.
