Saw him at the Red River Revel in Shreveport. It was outdoors, cold and misting rain. There were only a few hundred people there and we sat ten feet away. It led to a night of wild romance with my date. That should have been my first red flag, as she eventually revealed herself to be bipolar and it turned out to be the relationship from hell. But I got to see JJW and had sex.

Fun fact: Shreveport TV news personality Sherri Talley is Guy Clark's niece.

RIP.

I'll always remember him by his version of Gary Nunn's "London Homesick Blues" that he sang in concert at the old Municipal Auditorium in New Orleans. Jimmy Buffett and The Coral Reefer Band opened for him. Good show. We smuggled bottles of tequila in for refreshments.

Sad day.

Met him about 20 years ago down in Key West . You would think because he was country he would be a baw from Texas or down South. I was surprised when he said New York state....

Little known fact. He and jimmy Buffett were really close.

If you go to Jimmy’s twitter page he has a wonderful tribute to JJW. Still remember my 1st exposure to Buffet & JJW, it was 1984 & I was 14 in Vail, Co. at a free summer concert at the Gerald Ford outdoor amphitheater. Under a Colorado star filled sky & the distinct smell of Colorado Gold it was a magical evening. Thanks Mom & Dad & RIP JJW, you & Jimmy were incredible together.

MY favorite JJW songs:

1. I Feel Like Hank Williams Tonight
2. Night Rider's Lament
3. The Man With the Big Hat
4. Up Against the Wall You Redneck Mothers
5. Mr. Bojangles
6. The Pickup Truck Song
7. Trashy Women

What am I missing...Damn, he could flat out write awesome music.

"I play classical music when it rains. I play country when I am in pain. I won't play Beethoven, if the mood's just not right. I feel like Hank Williams, tonight"

Little known fact. He and jimmy Buffett were really close. They used to bounce around together between Key West, NOLA, and Austin because neither fit into the Nashville scene.

Buffett found a home in Key West and made that his home base. Jerry Jeff settled in Austin, but they remained friends for nearly 50 years.
Jimmy and JJW also wrote Railroad Lady together.

He was a New York boy who found a home with the armadillo and was part of my life's soundtrack. Ronald Clyde Crosby, AKA Jerry Jeff Walker will be greatly missed.

I went to one of his shows. Unfortunately, JJ was too drunk that night to sit on his stool. I was disappointed, but not mad. Thanks for the music JJ, thanks for all the great music.

Interesting that whe didn't write "Redneck Mother" or "London Homesick Blues". JJW was an incredible song writer and doesn't get near enough credit for it.
