Painting with a pretty broad brush there friend. The difference here is that folks in Wisconsin are not soft, and are largely gun owning hunters, unlike the pussies in Portland and Seattle.

Granted, Kenosha is kind of a shithole, but the point still stands.

Protests, civil unrest, and riots have been happening since our founding under both party's leadership. To act like it's going to be a problem in the future based on current votes is wholly ignorant of our history.

...War...war never changes.
Layla walked up as the young comrade was bleeding
Out. She was tired, having just finished a brutal Starbucks shift where she had to stand around, make coffee, and misspell people’s names. But this was her true calling, a Combat medic for Antifa.

As she walked up to the grisly scene she prayed to a non-binary, indigenous goddess to give her strength.
She knelt down next to the boy, his red communist flag mask concealing the hole on his “frick around and find out” shirt. It had been white, but now was soaked red. She hurriedly put a Bandaid on the hole, but not one of the racist pink ones. No, this one was a shade of brown, to make the world better for her BLM brethren. Of course, since this was Wisconsin she’d never actually seen a black person in the flesh, but dammit, she was making a difference.

Now, she turned her attention back to her patient. His eyes were rolling back in his head and he coughed up gouts of blood. It ran down his chin. She turned him over to see a massive, gaping exit wound, the size of a dinner plate. A sucking hole with jagged edges full of broken bones and crimson flesh.
She pulled out some healing crystals and burned some sage as she repeated the Wiccan spell of protection she found on reddit.

She tried to stop the flood of blood with positive vibes, and then a chant of “frick the police”, but nothing seemed to work. She sobbed in her hands. She’d have to clean this gore off before she got in the new Lexus her parents had bought her. She’d write a screed against the violence inherent in capitalism when she got back to her luxury apartment.

War is hell.

guy that got half his arm blown off had a gun also

Yeah, watching that video he and skateboard dude try to jump the guy with the rifle when he tripped, guy with rifle spins around point rifle at the two guys. Guy who ended up getting his arm blown off fakes surrender then draws a handgun on the guy on the ground.

Haven't seen video of what led to the guy who got shot in the head, but so far we have guy getting attacked with Molotov cocktail, skateboard, handgun... seems pretty open shut self defense cases there.

Not to mention he was actually trying to retreat in both shooting instances.

He's lucky all he got was a shot arm.

Dude in the white tshirt early in the video that ran the shooter down and hit him from behind is also very lucky.

Ahh, back to painting the “peaceful protests“ narrative. Sure, helmets, body armor, molotovs, blunt weapons, shields, lasers, and bricks are exactly how protests have gone in the past. Not to mention the billion dollars of damage to private and federal property since March.

Serious question...how much damage was caused during the civil rights movement and the associated marches and protests back in the day?

If I had to guess I would say little to none, because if there was any the police would've crushed them. But their approach was admirable, thoughtful, and it made sense to people. This bullshite happening now is the antithesis of that in every possible way.

There were certainly large scale protests that broke into riots back in the sixties. Rioting is nothing new. Neither is a polarized landscape.

The 1967 Detroit Riots were among the most violent and destructive riots in U.S. history. By the time the bloodshed, burning and looting ended after five days, 43 people were dead, 342 injured, nearly 1,400 buildings had been burned and some 7,000 National Guard and U.S. Army troops had been called into service.

The New York Draft Riots occurred in July 1863, when the anger of working-class New Yorkers over a new federal draft law during the Civil War sparked five days of some of the bloodiest and most destructive rioting in U.S. history. Hundreds of people were killed, many more seriously injured, and African-Americans were often the target of the rioters’ violence.

Well, like today, you have to differentiate between the protests that were largely peaceful (and pretty effective) like Selma, the Million Man March, the anti-war march on the Mall, etc. vs. what happened in Detroit in 1967, Chicago in 1968, et al.

There's a still photo of the guy's arm that got blown apart, and suffice it so say, I don't think he's gonna have full function of that thing anytime soon. I don't think I can post it here, but just scroll down the Mark Dice tweet with the video.

Ouch.

I would argue that is the worst unrest American has experienced in four decades and it is compounded by the fact that governors and mayors from one of the political parties are refusing to uphold their constitutional oaths to protect their citizens from the violence.

That is a serious problem.
