We're lucky because we're from Southeast Louisiana and currently live and probably stay in St Tammany Parish. It's literally right next door to Mississippi which, outside of job opportunities, is fast becoming one of the best states to live in. I'll probably encourage my kids to move to the Bay st. Louis area for better quality of life if they leave Saint Tammany Parish. I can get to Bay Saint Louis as quickly as I can get to New Orleans from here.

According to who? If there’s a reputable publication with a survey/study on this I would love to see it.

It's hot, steamy, and the mosquitoes will carry you away if you're not anchored to something. But the fishing is good. Just make sure you wear dark shades (really dark) to bed at night. If you open your eyes in the middle of the night your eyes glow in the dark. It'll scares your wife and kids. One more thing. That swelling on the lower side of your stomach? Swollen Fatty Liver.

Just kidding. As you were.

The only hope I see for EBR is if the St. George "city" comes to fruition. Will it be Nirvana? Of course not. Buy my hope is it could become something closer to what you see in the burbs of Jackson, MS, or Birmingham, or Memphis.

The only difference with many of those suburbs is that they are located in different counties than the main city. As long as EBR government is structured the way it is, nothing in the parish will be immune to the dumbassery of the elected government.

Stop. The leadership has been an issue for decades. Including when Bobby Jindal was in office. Louisiana is a dump because no one there in power gives a shite, and those who do give a shite aren’t willing to grapple for the power. The State is a mess and that hasn’t changed since 2004 when I first got there. And it was a mess before then, too.

Just cause it so, don’t make it less true

St Tammany Parish.

That’s where I live and it will be fine for awhile but eventually the shite will start to back up here too. If my kids want to leave, more power to them. I’ve pretty much concluded after Ida that I’ll be moving when I retire. By that time my folks will most likely be gone so there won’t be anything in particular holding me here anymore. I’m done with Louisiana bullshite and hurricanes.

One of our sons is moving to Houston in less than two weeks for a job. I encouraged him to do so. Sad momma here but happy for him.

Last child of 3 is in college in Mississippi — likely won’t ever come back to Louisiana.

Oldest has a job pretty specific to Louisiana .. although I’ve told him if things got bad pack up and just go. Anywhere. He’s industrious and capable. Great qualities for sure.

I went out with Stephanie a few times when she was a freshman at LSU

Great kisser.

She was as smoker back then, but when you’re 19/20 who cares?

Huge upgrade from anywhere in Louisiana, but a little too close and very same terrain and weather for it to really feel like you left Louisiana.

My thoughts exactly. I’m never going to call myself a Louisiana resident again unless my address is a cemetery.

Mississippi and Alabama are now far past Louisiana in quality of life

Yeah because before they came around the leadership has been near perfect.. The only one I think you can blame current problems on is Broome. Just because under Kip, Baton Rouge seemed to steadily grow. The growth that happened under him was huge..

And Leduff seemed like he knew how to keep the crime within certain areas. It was a much more realistic approach. You know crime is going to exist, but keep it in the areas where there is high crime.

As for as New Orleans, I love NO, but corruption is part of the culture.

As for as the governor. The bad thing about that position is that when there are situations to deal with, no matter who is in office the public will not like them because every decision they make will end up pissing off half the people to the point they will eventually piss off everyone.

No sir. Stephanie Reigel's biases have destroyed any credibility and objectivity she pretends to carry into her writing. I don't give a frick what she's writing about now. Damage has been done for years now.

I have a friend who used to plow her when they were in their early `20s.
