Major insurers like Blue Cross simply purchased from the compounding pharmacies and that's why your Ozempic, Zepbounds, Mounjaros, etc were a 10.00 a month co-pay.
Insurance companies were not doing this at all
People who did this, did it on their own. Insurance companies are not pushing medications that are not the FDA approved version.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) insures over 8 million members and I doubt any of them will pay $3,900.00 or Zepbound.
Will the drug makers start adjusting their prices if demand falls off a cliff.
I would assume if BC/BS did this that most other major carriers are doing the same.
Since March of 2025 all the insurance companies can legally do is cover the patented semaglutides which is why the cost and co-pays through insurance companies has increased tremendously.

During covid these versions of the semaglutides were FDA approved and yes all health insurance companies took advantage of this opportunity to reduce prescription drug costs for the members of their HMO's or for their health insurance policy owners. I have clients all over the U.S. and the prices of the GLP-1's is a big issue and something that we monitor constantly. Unfortunately, the prices of the branded GLP-1/Semaglutides have increased since March.

Effective January 1, 2026 the copays on my prescription drugs have exploded. I will not realize any advantage from the subsidies the democrats and their RINO pals voted in recently.
Obamacare has resulted in increased, taxpayer-subsidized profitability. Obamacare has turned out to be the disaster we all knew it would be.
Our only chance for some relieve is hopefully President Trump will fashion a better healthcare plan. These health insurance companies are getting subsidies from the government then turning around and sticking their health insurance plan customers with high co-pays and deductibles.
It's a lose-win situation. The healthcare plan customers lose and the healthcare insurance companies are the winners. All of this designed to do one thing - move everyone to single payer government healthcare.
Burn in hell Barack Obama.

Plus our Premiums went up 8% this year as they cut stuff out.
Total bullshite - Since Obamacare premiums have gone up 300%

Big Pharma is allowed to import to save money. We aren't.

Lose weight with diet and exercise fatty
Not $3000 meds
You're a dick...
I work out & use the compounded version about $200 per month.
I've lost 140 pounds and now my doctor took me off of blood pressure & cholesterol medications. I don't need my CPAP machine either. Everything in my last blood test was in the green/normal range. I can walk all day now and even my left knee (which I've had 3 surgeries on) feels so much better...
Before I started, I did a stress test and I was at 98% capacity and had no blockages... just overweight.
I don't like to run because of my surgeries on my knee, but I did and still swim and do water aerobics 3-4 times per week... just couldn't lose the weight... now I can control the volume of food and when I went a month without the medication, I didn't gain any weight back.
Im back on it to see if I can lose another 40 pounds to get under 200...

Every. Single. Thread.
Amazing so many low information posters feel the need to jump in here and shame anyone who loses weight the "wrong" way.
Congratulations and enjoy your newfound active life, baw.
Ignore the haters.

So you were fine with everyone else paying that for you to lose weight instead of freaking exercising and eating right, but now that you have to pay it, this is ridiculous?
This world has become pathetic and some of you leeches are hilarious. You also probably bitch about entitled people on welfare and disability.

In 18 months he lost 75 pounds. That’s less than 5 pounds per month.
That is not some groundbreaking amount. Also, it’s a lazy approach with lots of nasty side effects, but everyone else is supposed to pay for his shortcut.
People needing medicines like mentioned earlier for things like Crohns, cancer, MS, etc have no options. These people trying to. Lose weight have other options.
That is the issue. It’s a convenience drug and utterly pathetic that everyone else is having to pay for it.

I walk 2.5 miles a day and lift 2-3 times a week, the Rx was good for suppressing appetite at night.
So things that will not drive weight loss. Very smart.
Lifting doesn’t cause enough cardio output increase to lose weight and walking does not either.
Jogging and other significant aerobic exercise would. Do those and you won’t need meds.

Show me where communism has worked in any fashion. This bullshite is happening b/c the communists let 60+ million third world people into the country. Who do you think pays for their medical needs, I won't even end it with a question mark. You win so much b/c you're so GD stupid.
No, we're the most heavily medicated and most unhealthy population in the world. That's not working out very well..
People want to eat chips and ice cream and sit in front of a tv all day and take a weight loss shot.
Evolution of a lazy society.
Go to a gym and eat healthy for 3 months. See where you end up. Much better for many reasons.

And there is the difference between you and the OP. He said all he does is walk and lift. Neither of which will help with significant weight loss. Cardio exercise and by that I mean real cardio is what leads to weight loss. He is not doing that.
The drugs are also very dangerous, but docs don’t care. Had a guy we knew die from organ failure after jumping on those meds. It is a known side effect but docs don’t care and obviously neither do the pharma companies.

I personally know 4 people who have lost up to 75 pound range and they're buying their chemicals online and shooting it themselves. The ages are in their 80s, 60s, and 50s.
The cost is a couple hundred bucks and they buy the needles on Amazon.
