for the fencing team

“Harvard is the latest school to get dragged into the college admissions bribery scandal, although this shady dealing is unrelated to the FBI’s bust. Today the Boston Globe published a doozy of a story about a rich dad who was hoping to get his younger son into Harvard, just so happened to buy the Crimson fencing coach’s house at nearly double its assessed value, and then had his younger son join the fencing team. Huh!“

Harvard offers a degree on building fences?

So Rice teaching Yard Work to Mexicans makes sense now.

It's funny watching people react to news like this and the California thing as if it's some new thing that rich people just started doing. This is how the world works. Has been forever. Is it right? No. But the disbelieving surprise from the media and public is hilarious.

How stupid am I that I didn't even know this was illegal until all this came out?

This is an oldie but goodie, usually used to funnel money to a politician. An Alabama trial lawyer did this for the prior governors years back (actually got his accountant to act as purchaser).

With the other story people seem to not understand that the traditional wealth method of large donations are not the same as bribing and falsifying documents and entrance exams.
