Could be. I want to say it was $176, for some reason that number sticks out in my memory.

Distance between the two locations probably gets factored in. I was only between Boston and Manchester, NH, which isn't very far.

There's actually a small chance you help them out and they pay you for transporting the car where they needed it. Small small chance though.

ETA: This was sarcasm btw

In all honesty though yes there's one way fees and that's basically what you are paying, its the cost of the company to move a car from a less desirable location to more desirable. My sarcasm was that if you moved the car somewhere that helped them there is the possibility someone would give you a better deal or no charge.

Almost always better to call the local branch and talk to them then the national office.

I've done it before. I think the "return to a different city" was $150 or something.

Is it going to be more than like $700?

Most recent time it happened to me for work, it was $372 to turn the car in to an airport 2 hours away from the original spot.

Anybody ever done this. Got a complicated story brought upon by my own stupidity but basically I need to return a rental car to a different city than I booked it from. What's going to happen when I do this?

What does the rental agreement say?

Enterprise last week was $50 to pick up and drop off at BNA. It was picked up only about 35 miles from the airport though but I’m not sure if that factors into it

ETA: Based on the varied responses, just call the rental car company and ask what the fee is. You’re not going to get a consensus answer here

I had to leave one at the Atlanta airport. Called them from the phone on the plane as we were leaving. They kept asking me stupid questions like what color, make and model. Told them it was the color, make and model of the one they rented to me. Immediately called afterwards to report my credit card stolen

You are going to get charged at least $100 for it if i had to guess. You arent going to get off without some kind of penalty, i promise.

Depends on if it's under a corporate account as well. 70% of my rentals are flying into one city and flying out another but my rental is also setup that way.

I'm stuck in Denver with no flights back to NOLA. I checked into getting a car from Enterprise and driving it. I was going to be charged almost $700 for turning the car in in NOLA.
