Shaquille O’Neal, who is opening a sports bar in downtown Baton Rouge, is on the show tonight as well.

The new series with Raising Cane’s founder and CEO Todd Graves, Restaurant Recovery, will air on the Cooking Channel this month, with longtime Baton Rouge favorite Poor Boy Lloyd’s starring in this week’s episode.

Two episodes of the show, which is already streaming on Discovery+, will air each Tuesday night at 7 p.m. In each installment of Restaurant Recovery, Graves and his team work with restaurateurs that are struggling to hang on, providing fresh ideas, hands-on renovations and financial support.

In the episode airing tonight, June 15, Graves visits Poor Boy Lloyd’s, which has served po-boys and seafood downtown for more than 35 years.

IMHO, overhaul the whole damn restaurant.

For such an institution in downtown BR, I find their food to be subpar compared to other restaurants in the area.

Mediocre bread and skimpy portions on their poboys are their problems. This stuff isn’t rocket science

We went there for lunch today. Not really impressed with the upgrades and the food still sucked

I’ve worked downtown for a decade and literally don’t remember the last time I ate there. Just wasn’t particularly good, so no reason to return.

Eta: what the frick is going on with Todd’s arms/shoulders?

Man I used to love this place, but haven't been there in a while. Tried to go a few months ago during the day on a Saturday and they were closed. Covid?

Haven’t been for years. Decent casual place for lunch.

Obama went there when he was in town IIRC.

I miss Harringtons.

Fayes used to make a nice sammich

Riverside was good, too.

Like you Lloyd's wasn't my thing when downtown.

It's not like there are a ton of options in the area. It's not the best poboy/sandwich I've ever had. But it's far from the worst. Ultimately, it is an easy walk for lunch. Pretty quick. And good enough to eat and have a "fishbowl" of beer there on a Friday.

Still is.

Unfortunately for others on the list, Riverside Patty and Harrington’s are now gone.

Lots of places were good but have been turned over several times to varying results. I used to like Cafe Mediterranean but that has been like 3-4 other places since then.
