Good reporters don't need "gotcha" moments to make a name for themselves.
I completely agree with you, however; that is the times we live in. Everyone wants a "viral" (no pun to coronavirus) moment because that's how you make a name for yourself. And its all about how many people know you and how many eyeballs you can put on content.
For that reason, I don't think its a big deal and should be ignored, but instead people get worked up about it, post it on message boards and all of a sudden more people know who this reporter is.. And being able to put eyeballs on content doesn't matter if they are looking at the content because they love or hate you, as long as it drives traffic.

I agree and how grand a plan to make a name for themselves by trying to ask ridiculous questions for notoriety.

I didn't see the presser. Does anyone know which reporter asked this all important question (sarcasm) why he calls it the Chinese Virus? Was it that Asian woman that was belly aching yesterday that someone called it the Kung Flu to her face (the horror).

Yea but at time that's where they thought it was from. Many diseases have been similarly named. Point remains is normal process and not racist.
Today we know exactly what country this Wuhan Flu started in and spread from. We also know they were not exactly open about it until even Great Firewall of China couldn't stop flow enough. They also appear to have done a better job limiting spread outside of main region it began to the rest of China and its territories than they did limiting spread outside of China. I haven't heard an update but even in late January they still hadn't shared samples of virus collected in China so we could study it for ourselves. They did map genome but would not share actual samples (again not sure if they did later Usatoday article was from Jan 29 with a quote from head of NIH mentioning they were still waiting). They did start trying to blame us for it.
There has been some research into possibility the Spanish Flu also started in China.
