Repair Broken TV or Buy New

my 46" LCD Samsung got zapped yesterday. It turns on but after it warms up, it will turn off and cut on , then turn off, then on. This loop will continue until I finally turn it off myself.
All view ports are working like they should, it just has this loop problem.
Should I scrap it and buy new? Or get Geek Squad to come out and look for $100 just to tell me what's wrong with it?

I'd buy new. Get a smart TV for maybe twice for what you would pay to repair the old one, maybe less.

probably better off buying a new one. TV's, and good ones at that, really aren't that expensive anymore

yeah, you can get a new 46 inch for dirt cheap if you shop it, and could probably get a 4k for less than 600-700.

Buy a new power supply board for the TV from Ebay. Not hard to change, can find one for $25-30 Thats the probable cause.

Would buy new. Would not recommend spending extra money on a "smart" tv though. The apps are slow and would just recommend a firestick or roku stick it you want to make a TV smart. They run much better than the built in apps on TV..

My dad's 52" Sony got zapped by lightning. We replaced the main board purchased from ebay for $40. Took about 20-30 minutes to take of the back cover off and replace the board. Pretty simple just a bunch of screws and the plugs on the main board were all different so you can't put it on wrong.

New board for TV's after a lightning strike is actually pretty cheap compared to buying a new one.

Buy new. Been there with 2 previous TV's. Suck it up and buy one!

Could just be a blown capacitor. Take the back of the TV off and if any of the capacitors have a bulge on top, break out your soldering iron and fix it. Less than $10.

Not sure how hard it is to fix, but I have sold several older pre 2010 TV's on Craigslist for $50 or so.

You can take it to the appliance repair shop on Florida Blvd for free. They'll give you an estimate of it can be fixed. I got a 47" fixed for $100. It was worth it to me.
