Does your card cover liability too?
My CC insurance told me "sorry we can't cover trucks, nor antique and high end vehicles, it's in our policy"
you are right, I should have read their policy in details

Not always true. Even if it's full coverage, there are a lot of policies that don't transfer to rental vehicles.
No, pretty much all of them do.

I would ask for a copy of the policy/cardmember agreement and not just take their word for it.
I checked it online

Yeah, don't do this.
As someone familiar with how this works, reach out to the corporate office. Explain that you didn't not want to get the truck and it was the only option which your insurance/card doesn't cover. Often times, the loss of use, deminishment of value, and admin fees will/can be waived, and you only pay the actual damage cost. These cost are much less than what you would pay because of the volume of claims that the rental company has and refers to these body shops. The main goal is for the damage to be fixed, and Not cost the branch for damage caused by the consumer.
Do not simply ignore this as you will be sent to collections for the cost of the repairs.
Hope it all works out for you.

That that and that. Plus, they were out of what you had requested/reserved. Hopefully they'll help out as much as possible.

Cancel your credit card immediately. Don't give Alamo ANY pay information. Ignore all contact from them. Those motherfrickers have insurance in their vehicles. Let them cover it. Don't respond until you get a summons from a sheriff.
you're gonna have this guy in jail...

I'm pretty sure when you rent a car it comes with liability to a degree. That's why they don't care if you are covered, I've never been asked for proof of liability and they'd have to get it otherwise.
I believe the only thing you aren't covered for is the damage to your own vehicle.

I'm pretty sure you're 100% wrong.
Actually I'm 100% sure.

Nope. They have to provide minimum coverage. In Louisiana $15,000 per claimant/30,000 per accident. Good luck if you have any real assets to your name.

They being the renter. Either by using your own or purchasing thru the rental car company.
Posted on 7/26/17 at 10:14 pm to CaptainsWafer
Rental company, if the renter doesn't have his own insurance.
Posted on 7/26/17 at 10:15 pm to Y.A. Tittle
I've never seen them provide liability coverage without the person paying for it.
Posted on 7/26/17 at 10:16 pm to CaptainsWafer
I'm not sure where you're seeing anything, but this is mandated by statute.

At least it looks like you had fun driving the truck.

I understand the minimum requirement and the no pay no play law.
If I rented a car and used my personal coverage I pay $X. As I already pay for liability.
If Jim rents the same car and doesn't have personal coverage he pays $X + Y, with Y being whatever the rental car company's liability coverage is per day.
ETA To be fair, I've never been uninsured when renting a vehicle.

You're obviously a dumbass for doing this, but if you reserved a car and the rental company didn't have one when you got there you may have a legitimate beef. If I were you I would talk to Alamo and tell them you reserved a car and knew it was covered by your CC. Play dumb and act like you didn't know a truck wasn't covered. You're screwed either way, but you may be less screwed if you can convince the rental company. At least try to get part of the charge down/taken out.

I don't have to play dumb because I didn't know it was not covered.
I wouldn't have taken it if i have known.

You didn't have personal car insurance and declined the coverage, poor life decisions.
