I rented midsize car online.

Alamo didn’t have the car so they gave me a truck instead (F150 2017).
I got in a minor accident and I hit a non-moving object that caused some damage to 2 doors on the passenger side.

My credit car declined my insurance claim since they don’t cover trucks. I was left to pay for the damage on my own.

I am concerned Alamo will over charge me for the estimate. If they do charge an unreasonable amount, what should I do?

Also what is a reasonable damage cost for such an accident.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated

That's weird.

You can't go through your personal car insurance? I think Visa covers some of your deductible if you use them for the rental.

They will have the car repaired by one of their preferred shops that they have already negotiated set labor rates. You'll end up paying for the repair costs, possible depreciation, and loss of use for the time the car is off rental. The car is probably at the shop already being repaired so they can get it back to rent it again.

Any legitimate insurance should cover it. Assuming it isn't geico or the general type shite.

Your company doesn't have insurance? If a personal rental you'll be in line for an arse widening.

This. If you declined coverage thru Alamo, your personal car insurance should cover it.

I would take the vehicle and get three estimates for repair before bringing it back. that will give you some leg to stand on should they try to overcharge. sucks, but be prepared to get hit with charges for loss of use of the vehicle as well.

this probably goes without saying, but you damn sure need to take out insurance when you rent the car if you don't have personal insurance and your credit card won't cover.

So what would've happened if you hit someone and seriously injured them?

If you have full coverage on a vehicle you own, your policy may cover it.

Mine covers any car I drive.

ETA: OP is up shite creek

Sorry, bud.

That money you were saving for a new ride is gonna go straight to Alamo.

How in the world did you not get the damage waiver if you didn't have insurance?

You're going to get fricked over your stupidity on that one. Consider it lesson learned.
