The Lubys thread got me thinking about Panchos and the good ole days
Growing up in Lake Charles we’d drive to Orange,TX to eat at Panchos a few times a month. I even had my birthday party there one year as a kid because you got a piñata
Last time I went was after college during a horrible hangover. I just remember not being to shite right for a month.

Parents took me there for many birthdays as a kid. Wish I still had the piñatas they gave you on your birthday.
Simpler times. Good times.

I was part of a make shift eating contest at the one on Florida blvd. We devised a point system and I lost by a half a point. We were in the 20s and I wanna say the highest point value was a 2. I would die if I tried that today...

Wasn't there one in the early 2000s on Siegen in the Twin Peaks shopping center?

Panchos on Nicholson in BR. 1980. Pledge work week. 30 or so of us go to panchos for lunch with intent of eating everything they have. We raise the flag and raise the flag and raise the flag until the manager comes out and says” enough, no more food for you”. We, being smart college student point out the sign says “all you can eat”!
Manager says “correct, and that’s all you can eat, out!”
Our young , inexperienced minds had clearly been outwitted. We acknowledged we had been bested, Thanked pancho for lunch and left

Panchos at Broadmoor was our go-to after church lunch place.

We would hit the one on Florida in BR in the early 90s.
One of the guys with us puked walking back to the car bc he ate like a dog.

I used to love raising that flag when I was little. Me and my sis would take turns raising it after fighting about who could raise it first.
