I've got 2 good buddies that are cops, and both them have asked me in the last week if my industry was hiring. Today my buddy told me after this Atlanta stuff that he does not want to be part of Law enforcement if this is the path forward.

No but I can use all my sick leave and then go on FMLA (even if unpaid) to keep my health insurance due to my PTSD, anxiety or other mental illness and get my affairs in order.

Maybe a suburban county is hiring cops....

I think officers will get their affairs in order and then find a new position or new careers. The ones close to retirement may play the game to get the time in to retire.
Six months to a year from now you will see less recruits and more vacancies.

Absolute perfect city for such an experiment.

Maybe not a strike, but I really am not optimistic about police retention here.

There aren’t lines of candidates waiting to be cops. Departments across America are seeing fewer and fewer applicants.

This will shrink that list exponentially.

There are plenty of openings for good officers in the suburbs outside of the perimeter.
We haven't gone off the deep end out here.

No. I thought it would have happened by now, but the police seem content to lie back and take it.

Easy defense against the Felony Murder charge because it was pure self defense. This report by Reuters proves that tasers are indeed sometimes lethal. End discussion

Reuters documented 1,081 cases through the end of 2018 in which people died after being shocked by police with a Taser, the vast majority of them after 2000.

There are several cops I work with who have fairly lucrative side gigs, too.

you assume there is a demand of ANYONE that wants to take that job

long hours, shite pay, politicians and a substantial portion of the country both hate and demonize you

nobody is going to want to be a cop after this.

The problem is that police departments during cases always say that tasers aren’t lethal—so it may come back to hurt their case.

Absolutely

But at the same time, no citizen of this city can feel confident their DA wouldn't throw them under the bus for a justified shoot either.

Regardless of whats said, this is a study based on facts. The video of this officer getting shot with a taser for training will likely be called as evidence. Incidents like this are the exact reason you have to get hit with a taser and/or pepper spray
