My group plans to proceed with FQ day drinking in dresses on Saturday. Sucks that it's "cancelled" but thousands will still be down there partying in dresses.

This is crazy. It’s too late now for us to cancel our airbnb. Might as well go anyways and wear our dresses. act like we didnt get the memo

I haven’t gone in a few years. I was down there on a staycation. It is the goat event for single folks, that’s for sure.

Good for you, I know of a non-profit that volunteers at the registration and beer booths and gets a good bit of their budget from volunteering at the rdr.

It's sad how they are impacted by this because the funds they raise go directly to a program to incentivize kids to read at schools.

But cancel away regressives. Regressing as per usual.

You summed up my sentiment. I went one time with the wife a lifetime ago and swore to never do it again.

Hot as hell to begin with. Stopped in one gallery and looked at the "art" offered for sale and I swear they took more time naming the pieces than actually painting them and they were priced in the $2K range for what was basically a white canvas with a few streaks of color on them-----I kid you not.

Has the mayor added a curfew yet? I haven't been down there since December and I think it was an 11pm curfew then I heard it was lifted.

There’s no curfew. New Orleans’ demise is greatly exaggerated on TD.com

Lester it’s clearly coming after the press conference today. Nola is about to be the only city in the entire country with uniform covid restrictions

Kinda sounds demise like

Nothing announced, but Beau Tidwell said this today:

quote:

Tidwell said that the French Quarter Festival has not made an announcement about a cancellation, but he said city leaders did think that the organizers of the Jazz Fest and the Red Dress Run made the correct decisions in canceling their events.

“We would encourage the French Quarter Festival organizers to look very closely at the situation,” he said. “Anything we do now affects what happens next. For us to get out of this in any kind of way, people have to start making very smart decisions with an emphasis on safety.”

Tidwell also made it clear that as of right now, people attending Saints games will be expected to wear a mask.

Tidwell said the city is also considering increasing restrictions as COVID cases continue to increase. Tidwell said an announcement could come as soon as this week,”

He said the city continues to have conversations with the health department leaders in the city and more restrictions are likely.
Nola is officially about to become the only restricted city in America

since the quarter is too dangerous after dark, what are some bars that aren't being strict I could get the group to go to?
