Weird. NO just never struck me as a city with a lot of alums from out of state colleges.

I always thought of Dallas, Atlanta, Houston, and Nashville as the hub/anchor cities for SEC/ACC alums.

Bayou Beer and Bayou Wine Garden is a cool place, as well as all the other mentions.

Correct, Newman and Country day

"Oh heavens no, Preston and Parker will not be going to LSU. We didnt put into their education for a football in-state school. They will be going to Ole Miss and Alabama"

Well to be fair UGA and BAMA throw big money to out of state students whether they need it or not.....I know people that can afford any college in the nation and they got pretty much a full ride to Bama...it happens over and over and over.....

No mention of it on the Decadence website.
LINK /

I stumbled onto it trying to walk my family from the French Market to a hotel on Canal several years ago.

We don't have to worry about them wanting to tour the quarter again.

Weird.

The other cities I mentioned is where alums go for jobs and network with other alums in larger metro areas.

New Orleans is more than likely the least transient city in the US. Which makes sense considering most of the higher paying jobs for SEC grads are going to be in larger metro areas.

The really cool thing about Atlanta in particular is that you really see alums from colleges throughout the country, not just an SEC school that’s only 5 hours away.

UGA is a good public school and in a different tier than LSU/Bama/Ole miss

I simply find it funny when parents have a stick up their arse about LSU but send their kids to Ole Miss or Bama

You see it with Episcopal in BR as well (not everyone, I am stereotyping)

They come home to work for the family business or marry their high school sweetheart and open a boutique on Magazine street or become a real estate agent.

New Orleans has for some reason a large Ohio State contingency. Mid-City Yacht Club is jammed for their games.

Among my grad school class…New Orleans was not even competitive with Baton Rouge, Lafayette, or Memphis for white collar jobs like that. Much less the larger metros like Houston or Atlanta.

The city’s economy is increasingly reliant on tourism and hospitality. Which is fine until you have to deal with restrictions and masks mandates.

It has a lot to do with the Tulane factor that still exists in pockets of uptown. Guys in my dad's generation want LSU to lose every fricking game in every sport. Arch Manning's grandfather on his mother's side HATES LSU way more than the Mannings.

But is it though? Even in a pre Covid world, a one dimensional economy so heavily reliant on tourism and hospitality isn’t ideal for sustainability.

Case in point, canceling jazz fest is way more of an economic blow than it would be for Austin canceling ACL or Atlanta canceling a music festival since both of those cities have way more of a diversified economy especially with strong health care and tech sectors.

Agreed, but there is a number of OSU grads that attend the games there. I've met a minimum of 25 to 30 at Finns.
