Shell Norco has a new unit that will use plastic as a feed stock. Not sure how clean it has to be.

I’ve got a couple of very green friends. They do all the right stuff, try to buy local etc.

...except they don’t recycle. It’s mostly a hoax and can actually expend more resources than it saves.

Not an out and out scam. But highly overrated.

I have to pay for trash bags to put my actual trash bags in, so that the town will pick them up.

I’m my case, recycling saves me money, so I cram as much shite in that wheelybin as possible.

Also, you should know that us Americans not using plastic straws, grocery bags, etc has basically no effect on the total plastic in the ocean. Because truth be told that plastic ain’t ours. 90% of the oceans plastic can be traced to 10 rivers, those rivers are in Asia and Africa. So, as soon as they decide to do something about it our efforts really don’t matter.

I can tell you guys a secret.
Even the recycling facilities throw alot of recycling waste in the landfill as it has been contaminated with food or regular garbage.

All the solid waste hauling services do is give a discount the second can due to the truck coming to dump the first can anyway. Usually lighter than normal trash unless you deal with a bar with glass bottles. Recycling material in smaller markets it is not uncommon to do this as it cost too much to haul to a recycling center.

Companies sell this to governments as an add on to make more money.
Guess what hippies you are not saving that much life on a typical landfill.

It was a complete scam designed by my good friends at Mostly Former Nazi chemical companies like Dupont, Bayer etc because sales were starting to go down in the 70s. The crying Indian commercial was even a scam to deflect attention from the issue, it’s not their fault it’s ours.

It was never intended to work but just look like it worked. The same percentage of plastic shite that was recycled in the 70s (10%) is what we have today.

And we replaced glass bottles which were actually recycled a ton. (Anyone else remember getting a nickel or dime a bottle. I bought many a candy bar or comic book by bring bottles in.)

It only appeared to work for a while as the Chinese would buy it all and then take out the 10% as they were so starved for resources for decade or so. The other 90% they dumped into ocean or landfills, so a lot of that shite dumped 5000 miles away is still our shite.

That’s how your buddy got screwed, after a while they quit buy the shite.
