I've got LVT in my house and have had for years. we also have it in our office. pretty much indestructible and looks good. tons of choices too. the main advice id tell you is go to go light. mine in my house is very dark, and although looks good when clean, is a bitch to keep clean and shows EVERYTHING

Do you have dogs? Some of those wood laminates are extremely soft and can show every little scratch

Yes.
That was the only area I installed Vinyl. The rest of the house is Rosewood and 100+ year old quarter sawed old growth pine.

You have that backwards. Porcelain is more expensive with good reason. Ceramic is the cheap stuff.

Still looks cheap. Got about 750 sf that will be ripped up this summer. Real wood will go down next time. It will be pecan rough sawed. I will be sawing it up myself on my sawmill.

About a week after we moved in my wife spilled some paint on it and sat for about 4 hours before it was noticed. Wiped it right up a normal all purpose cleaner. That would have ruined a wood floor.

Your second photo is dirty-top heart pine.
Heart Pine wood is very hard/durable. The dirty-top means the face of the boards is not sanded fully to remove imperfections, namely saw cuts when the boards were hand-milled 100+ years ago.
You get your real, hard wood that's durable, and the natural imperfections will mask any scuffs your kids or pets make.
It's not cheap, though. But you won't be replacing your floor again because of style changes or damage.

Any wood floor that's properly sealed wouldn't have been ruined from a latex paint spill.

This. These days the rave is everything painted.
There is a big reason as to why. The cost of real wood high grade is high along with a master carpenter to install said wood. Big reason one doesn't see craftsman built/finished out houses unless you have a open check book. Posted on 2/28/19 at 4:35 pm to fr33manator
We put vinyl plank in my wife’s office/shop and so far have been very pleased. Supposed to be water, scratch, pet resistant, and it was very reasonable to purchase/install
