Subtle "I'm fat, but I can afford to spend $500 on a wedding gift" brag.

I do, which is why I'm getting them a fairly nice watch for their wedding. I'm not spending $500 on a gift for someone I don't know well.

By know really well, I mean know what sort of watches they like. I like watches, and I only know maybe 2 people or so that I would trust to buy me a watch. I wouldn't want someone to spend $500 on me on something that I didn't like. People who like watches are often very specific in what they like or don't like.

If you're set on a watch in that range, I'd go for a Hamilton.

Steinhart is the answer for you. Poor man's Rolex. Movement is good or better than Rolex.

I have a Citizen Eco-Drive that I probably paid a little bit less than that for and it’s been a solid watch.

I came to post the exact same thing.

Lots of people pay close to that for smart watches.

go to jomashop.com and put in your price range. There's lots of styles and brands you can search.

Hamilton is classic, so is Tissot. Seiko generally makes the best watch for the money. Citizen echo drive is cool.

Avoid Fossil and Invicta. Cheaply made Chinese blingy stuff.

You’re spending $500 on a wedding gift when you can barely afford to pay your $1100 rent each month?

Yes, paying for it with a credit card that I'll only make the minimum payment on each month.

My wife bought me a Apple Watch S III as a surprise and I have no idea what she paid for it but I love it and she knew I would have never bought it for myself.

I’ve had a Timex Ironman for the past 10 years that I wore everyday.

My other watch is a Tag that I bought myself 15 years ago but never really wore it.

This would be a good place for one of those Nick Saban commercials.

"Young lady, you're way too smart to spend $400 on a wedding gift............."
