Recent drug addiction in family

My wife has a cousin who we have suspected for years of being on pills or something. Last weekend when Tornados were all over my wife called to check in. He was slurring his words and speaking nonsense. After lying about it being alcohol for a week he admitted he’s addicted to “roxys.” This all just happened and it’s a lot to process. I can’t figure out if we are being used or he truly needs help.
Any one go through this? I feel like I’m a piece of shite for feeling like he’s using us, but I want to protect my wife.
Edit: He wants to live with us to “regroup.” Sorry, a lot going on

Care to elaborate on how he's using you?

He wants to live with us as he “regroups”

Yes. All I can say is proceed with caution. It’s a horrible addiction and will absolutely tear a family apart.

Try to help i guess
But accept that the majority of the time there isnt much you can do unless they are highly motivated to change

You need to be prepared for the fact that he’s not going to attempt to get help until he’s ready to do so. In the meantime he’s going to be a junky with junky behavior. He may OD. He may die.
What is he asking for from you? Whatever you do, don’t hand him money directly.

I’d tell him he needs to seek inpatient treatment. Offer to help him with securing that.

You can help him without him living with you. You put your family at risk if you let an addict live under your roof.

If he's addicted to roxy's, he needs professional help. He isn't going to regroup with you, he'll steal everything that isn't nailed down to feed his habit.

Anyone? Almost everyone has gone through this. This is America, man. It’s the REAL plague.

Rehab facilities exist for a reason.

Wouldn’t let him live with me(especially if I had kids) but hope he gets help.
