Real talk, does a president have the ability to rename an entire Gulf?

I don’t think that’s within article 2 of the constitution so why does a president have the ability to do this?
I would post this on the Poli board but they’re currently celebrating Robert E. Lee day over there so I don’t want to end up on some list.

Start a GoFundMe for a group of lawyers to research this if you're overly concerned.

Sure he can. That doesn't mean any other nation will start calling it that, but he can change what we call the Gulf. It's not that much different from Obama renaming Mount Mckinley

I'm sure it was named something else prior to 1569.

Executive orders are an overreach of power

Does a President have the authority to declare an Amendment to the Constitution of the US? I'd say a President has more authority to rename a body of water than to unilaterally amend the Constitution.

Does a president have the ability to claim that dudes with dicks are women and can go in girls bathrooms and play against girls in sports?

It’s the only way stuff gets done bc Congress is completely ineffective.

No I think that whole stunt was beyond ridiculous and all of these pardons for “innocent” people while threatening people who were arrested for J6 is also crazy and a huge misuse of power

it defeats the whole purpose of having checks/balances.

quote:Well, except the fact that Mt Mckinley is located inside the US. Other than that, I agree. Other countries aren't obligated to follow it but I don't see why he wouldn't be able to alter how we officially recognize it, regardless of how one feels about executive orders for something like this. Seems like that's how the executive branch rolls the last few decades, both parties.
