Leave him alone. He is probably just processing some mistakes. He isn't missing. Just doesnt want to be found.
That's great advice. Just assume a guy who has a probability of killing himself can't be found because he just took some time to process some mistakes.
You can't be serious.

As others have said, sounds like substance use.
He won’t need his wallet or his phone for one last severe bender that he hopes ends his life.
Most likely he is in the same city in an area that drugs are sold.

If he doesn’t want to be found, I suspect he’s outside the city limits, especially if he lives in a small town. Widen the search. He could be much further away than you think he is.

If the wife is missing $1200, and her husband leaves his cell phone and wallet behind, she’s calling up his buddies to find him. She will give them details. There’s not much up to the imagination on why he knows this.

Then I really hope you’re not an actual judge. If you are keep comfort in knowing you will only be the second worst judge to have ever posted on this site.

And I hope you’ve been interdicted for mental incompetence.
OP said 1200 missing, implying he took it with him. How does he know?
Withdrawal from an ATM? That could mean different things.
Missing from wife’s purse? Strange she’s carrying around that much.
Taken from the cookie jar? Hmmm.
So, I ask again, how do you know he skipped with 1200?

Wide checked the bank account or they had that much cash and he took it. Doesn’t matter.
He took his ID and one credit card.
They now think he’s in an airport or a hotel. Turns out he brought a laptop, and they are in his phone and can see that he is reading the emails we’re sending.

I'd say this is the likely answer.

Financial problems are the worst, especially when that bubble burst.
Guys play it up young and put on like they are millionaires while making 40-50k a year, sooner than later all the cards get maxed and it's overwhelming. We've all over extended our asses at times.
Hopefully ole Baw will realize it ain't that bad and come home unharmed.

Thanks, but this dude is one of the most financially successful of all of us. Played his cards right.
We are past all the speculation now and going full suicide prevention. We found out he is checking e-mail somewhere.

$1200 actually seems to be a bit small for a suicide run to be honest.
Not really.
When I was thinking about killing myself, I know I could have done it for free. That's always the upside of sucide.

Can you give us anymore information so we can help?

Jut found out he went home. Had texted his dad that he “couldn’t do it.” So I don’t know what the money was for, but our worst fears were on target. that was a close one.
We had all emailed him a bunch of encouraging messages (didn’t have his phone) and as of this morning he hadn’t read most of them yet.
Now I’m wondering how much more embarrassed he will be because we emailed him. Had to do it though.

Hopefully your friend is home now. You know, just because your friend has been successful doesn't mean he can be immune to making stupid life decisions, whether personally or professionally. Seems like maybe your friend is carrying some burdens that he feels others won't understand.
I say just be a friend and offer whatever help you can. Good luck, man.

That's good to hear. Hopefully he can get his life going on the right path.
