This honest to God may be the dumbest thing I've heard in a long time. He knows the guy and is going him a favor by taking the dog he no longer wants. The "friend is just trying to make a quick hundo.

I never mentioned this specific case, learn to read instead of being an a-hole. I meant in general, such as on Craigslist.

IF you pay that guy $100, you'll be his bitch forever.

Didn't read thread but a re-homing fee is charged to make sure the buyer is willing to invest in the pet.
The thinking is if you can't put some money out to get the dog are you going to be willing to put money out for the vet?
If you put a dog free on Craigslist you will have all kinds of trash show up looking for a bait dog or something they can try to flip for a few bucks.

It's to try & weed out the bad seeds.

Second, are you sure your brother shouldn’t get a dog for himself? Does he even want one? That’s a huge responsibility. If he still lives at home, are your parents ok with this?

My brother is 10 (22 year age gap). My parents are fine with it. I ended up getting the dog from this guy even with his bullshite fee. I'm going pick her up Saturday.

And as far as having to spend money to prove I'm "worthy", this dude works at a gas station and is moving to Colorado to live on somebody's sofa because.... weed.

Baw just wants pot money.

Well this guy is asking for a "re-homing fee" of $100.

He doesn't trust you.

Rehoming fees are to avoid people gathering lots of free pets to feed to their pittbulls.

Tell the mother fricker if he can't find anyone who wants it or willing to pay $100, you will be more than happy to take it off his hands for free.

I'd tell him no thanks. He is not a business, there are no "fees" involved. He is selling the dog. Do you know when he leaves? I'd try to wait him out.

"I'm not paying you for a mutt, dude. I'll take it off your hands for free, otherwise you should buy him a sweater for Denver."

He's moving and can't take it. Tell him if he decides to give it away you're interested. Chargingnyou $100.00 for a bullshite re-homing fee is not giving it.

People usually charge rehoming fees just to make sure someone has a financial investment in the animal to make sure they don’t mistreat it or fight it or something. People that are getting rid of a dog and giving it to someone they know and charging a rehoming fee is kinda garbage.

I just don't understand. Like to the point I want to call bullshite because this seems unfathomable. This is a guy you know? An acquaintance or a friend. Not a shelter or rescue program or pet adoption agency, right? Did you even ask or did he even say what the $100 would be used for? Or did he just say give me $100 and I'll give you my dog, dude?

Fwiw-even if this is all bullshite your friend is a TPOS for dumping his dog. That's family. frick your friend.

P.S. That is a beautiful dog. I hope your brother loves him. Congrats on making sure she has a good home and someone to love.
