I’ve always said if my kid can’t get out then I won’t get out.

I've told my wife that before. If there's any chance I can save any of my kids, I'm taking it everytime, no matter the situation. Fire, rip tide, animal attack, crazed gunman. I'd rather die than have that guilt all of my life. Told her if I die, just remember that that was the type of person I was.

As for this poor family, I've never heard of them, but this is just news that I absolutely hate reading. I will be praying for them all.

Per the accident report she was driving. 2020 Suburban. The grain truck was a 2001 Volvo. Grain truck driver was listed as ok. Impairment doesn’t seem to be a factor at this time but toxicology samples were taken.

I heard about this not long after it happened this morning from our men’s retreat GroupMe . Tragic.

It’s either a crack head or a South African that’s gutting the shite out of it, or some old retired baw that is going to be protect everything with his life but won’t shut the frick up at the bins.

There is no in between.

Here's an article on it. Heartbreaking. How old is the surviving child?

quote:

Earlier this morning, shortly after 7 a.m., Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop F began investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash on U.S. Hwy 425 at Buckles Road. The crash claimed the lives of 9-year-old Bryn Thompson and 7-year-old Harrison Thompson of Rayville.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2020 Chevrolet Suburban, driven by 43-year-old Kasey Thompson, was traveling south on U.S. Hwy 425. At the same time, a 2001 Volvo tractor towing a grain trailer, driven by 70-year-old James Barnes, was also traveling south on U.S. Hwy 425 behind the Chevrolet. As Thompson was preparing to turn left onto Buckles Road, the Volvo collided with the rear of the Chevrolet. After impact the Chevrolet became engulfed in flames.

Bryn and Harrison Thompson, who were properly restrained, were pronounced deceased at the scene by the Richland Parish Coroner’s Office. Kasey Thompson and her front seat passenger, who were properly restrained, sustained non-life threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital. Barnes, who was unrestrained, was not injured.

Although impairment is not suspected, routine toxicology samples were collected and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation. Stay safe on the road by always driving attentively and without impairment. Avoid distractions, such as texting, eating, or using your phone, and remain focused on the task at hand. Also never drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs (prescribed or illicit). Making responsible choices while driving can save lives and prevent tragedies. In 2023, Troop F has investigated 22 fatal crashes, resulting in 25 deaths. News

I think he had to be the youngest. I remember the little girl toddling around and calling her grandfather doc. So sorry for this family, they’re really good people.

That is any parents worst nightmare. To have to replay that scene in your head over and over. Don't think i could do it.

Sometimes that is the case farmers will hire some questionable people but don’t rush to conclusion because that’s not always the case a lot of times it’s older retired guys that just enjoy the farm and work during harvest. As it seems the case with this tragedy the gentleman driving the truck it could of very well have been an accident by the guy or mechanical failure

Prayers to the family. I don’t even want to imagine the long endearing pain that will last a lifetime.

For the truck driver. Not sure how to feel about that. Whether a mechanical failure or not he’s in fault. Brakes go out ? Crash the ditch not the car in front. Probably wasn’t paying attention.

I understand what you’re saying but easier said than done things happen so fast we’ll know more once the investigation is complete. Just a very sad thing all around prayers to everyone involved

Same with sugar cane trucks in SLa. Give those SOBs a wide berth at all times.

Wish LA State Police would spend more time inspecting these commercial vehicles than catching drivers going 9 mph over the speed limit.

I could not fathom something like this. We aren’t promised tomorrow and this is a painful reminder to not take life for granted. Prayers for everyone involved in this tragedy.
