My issue is: why is that something that gets the employees fired automatically though. Sure he has the right to fire them.
I also have the right to criticize the manager for being overzelous. I don't believe in firing someone for a first time mistake.

My issue is that you assume this is their first offense. That’s usually the behavior of someone who is looking to blame everything on someone else or claim discrimination. Not saying you are, but jumping to those conclusions leads to that sort of thing
Let’s face it, this is a race issue plain and simple. There is an implied discrimination or else it wouldn’t be a news item

Yes, unless that is something that was previously communicated to the employees regarding acceptable music to be played. That should not be a fireable offense.
