when I was living in Nola, circa when the world's Fair was about to open it's doors, Nola was rated the best tasting tap water in the country

TA's Drinkin with Lincoln. There was nothing on Bluebonnet except Swaggart's and an Exxon. Siegen was a 2 lane road out in the country. I remember when they moved OLOL from downtown to Essen...and there was hardly anything on Essen besides channel 33. Lots of memories of what used to be when BR wasn't a shithole.

things about Baton Rouge 20+ years ago that younger people might not know.
The Washington Street exit at the 10\110 split causes backups on the Horace Wilkerson Bridge extending into West Baton Rouge Parish.

There used to be a Rax on Essen, and Sicily's Pizza on Bluebonnet. The Matherne's on Bluebonnet used to be Delchamps, and the CVS there used to be a K&B. Once upon a time, there was a TG&Y and a Hopper's in the Drusilla shopping center.

People used to stay for the entire game at tiger stadium
Only game I remember all of us leaving early was 2010 or 2012 Tenner when T-Bob snapped it over JJ’s head.
Needless to say, Dad and I looked pretty dumb when we saw two guys jumping outside of the stadium and asked what happened, to then hear the roar of the stadium not even 3 seconds later.

Bailey's Chicken Fingers was the rival to Raisin Canes

Isn't the tap water some of the best in the country because it's treated?
That's about the extent of what I know about BR.
It's supposed to be good because it comes from an aquifer and is NOT treated. However, the quality dips if the pipes are too old and it stains everything red like in my neighborhood.

It wasn't always a crime infested shithole. It was actually pretty nice.
There's always been a lot of crime around campus. At least back into the 80 thru mid-90s. The campus is just too close to low income areas past the northgate.
But I will say that the crime has spread south over the years. The Siegen area is a good example. Was a nice area thru the early 00s.

Tailgating at LSU was safe, fun, and family friendly.
And cheap. RIP the old golf course by what used to be CEBA.
They really made a mess out of tailgating.

More than 20 years ago, but we used to go to Tabby’s when we went out freshman year because they had a keg and did not card. It was always fun.
Only went a few times but it was a hidden gem.

The meatballs at Silver Moon were fire.
And ham Italian at the Caterie.
LSU grad 1991. It was a good time for sure.

True, no matter how many times some claim it's not.

Natty Night at the Natatorium field was an event put on by ????
It was a huge party the Friday before a football game (maybe homecoming?) with lots of kegs of Natty Light. Anybody could show up and partake. You just needed to bring a cup to fill or you could purchase a solo cup for $1 I think.
I think they stopped doing it by 2006 or 2007.

Tigerland was a great place to be in the mid 90s. Cheap rent. Pretty safe. Shitty but fun bars where you could reliably get hammered for $20-30. Good food options: AM Mart, Rotolo's, Cory's, Silvermoon closeby.

Which years are you referring to?
88-2004. Even Gardere was respectable in '88. Tigerland was nice. And the hood was still north of Florida Blvd. Had a few awful moments like Betty Smothers murder and of course DTL was active, but nothing like it transitioned into post 2005.
