Use bed frequently
Have never wanted a swing open tailgate

What does it look like closed? I bet it looks goofy with a butt crack.

Yes
Put load as far in as you can, pull back, use forks to push

I haven't had a ram in years but I love this idea. I can still use tailgate normally but I get tired of having to lean way over to pull shite out of the bed or lift things an extra 2 feet if I don't put the tailgate down. I also have used the bed step before, nicer for stepping down than climbing up. If it makes work easier why not.

quote:I see this option more for the causal truck bed users. I loaded 3 suit cases and a golf travel bag into my truck the other day and one of the suitcases slid to the front of the truck. With the tailgate folded down I couldn't reach it, but the new option it makes it much easier to reach items in the front part of the bed without having to walk to the side of the truck.
I could see an older gentleman, or a guy who's wife drives his truck often using this. It is an option that allows Ram to capture a little more of the market.
ETA: I've had 2 Ram trucks, both with Ram Boxes(holds golf clubs if bag is small). I'm in the market for a new Ram and I will be getting the split tailgate.

So you can load your cargo easier. Seems pretty obvious
You don’t have to put something heavy on the tailgate and slide it into the bed
You still have to lift it the same distance to reach the truck bed...

Looks pretty good although the thought never occurred to me

Eta: feel like that tailgate sticking out is going to frick someone up in an accident.
was it a problem on vehicles like suburbans? If you're talking about whilst towing, it folds down like a normal tailgate too.

While it may be rated for 2000 lbs, I certainly wouldn't be testing that capability very often.
As stated earlier I completely get the point of it, but I don't see it being as durable as a normal tailgate.

Nobody:
Ram: Let’s split the tailgate

Key language there. The best trucks have been off the market for 30-40 years.

Because it’s probably 3k, it’s on a Ram so it is guaranteed to cause issues, it solves a problem I’ve never had, etc

Pretty sure most of the haters have never put anything in the bed of their badazz trucks. Probably never used 4WD either.
