I fill up a quarter machine in a laundry mat. I’m struggling trying to find quarters to fill our change machine. The banks won’t give us any quarters

They’re forcing the use of cards slowly. Bill Clinton said 20 years ago we’ll be entering a cashless society. When you use a card they can track every penny and your habits etc... buy lots of alcohol or cigarettes? They’ll be an algorithm that hikes your health insurance. It’s coming. Complete control.

He’s not saying he’s using change. He’s saying the MFs are not giving him .99 to .01 he is due because of a “change shortage.”

Exactly. They sit there and say they have no change when I can look in the drawer and see they do. Its utter bullshite.

I can honestly say I could believe the tracking bullshite with card usage only. It makes no sense. It's not like they took a bunch of change out of circulation.

The coin situation will ease up this week. Actually Monday Fed began releasing more. Not totally up to bank requests but they are releasing more.

If I had to guess,,,,,,,expect this to happen again in the fall or winter. Just a guess.

I’ve got a Kentwood bottle full if anyone need to borrow some. It’s a bunch of BS. You can look on the ground and find a dollar in change in any parking lot. It’s a ploy to get you to swipe the card. Banks get a percentage every time you do. Free money for them. Wells Fargo lost 2 billion last quarter and now we all must use our cards. It’s a sham.

I lovingly lick every fricken penny and hand 'em exact change with my glistening ungloved fingers. No change required, thank you very much

It's not a ploy.

Every bank and Every retailer didn't just all the sudden decide to make this happen.

Yep the dude at racetrac in p’ville got an attitude with me because i paid cash for something that cost $4:40. Not long ago places would refuse to take cards for under $5, now they insist.

Definitely a conspiracy... Forbes link:
quote:

On June 11, the Federal Reserve acknowledged that the COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the “normal circulation patterns for U.S. coin.” “In the past few months, coin deposits from depository institutions to the Federal Reserve have declined significantly and the U.S. Mint’s production of coin also decreased due to measures put in place to protect its employees,” the Fed wrote in a statement. “The Federal Reserve is working on several fronts to mitigate the effects of low coin inventories.”

quote:

I just get fricked. My question is why should I take the hit? Why shouldn't the gas station?

1. Neither you nor the gas station have to “take the hit.” You have the options to either pay with a card or pay with exact change. If you are a habitual spender of cash at convenience stores, presumably you have some coins lying around? Sounds like you need to be a good American and put those puppies back into circulation.

2. There’s no law requiring businesses to give you change for cash purchases. You think they are going to lose money because you don’t have exact change and don’t want to use a card?

3. If this pisses you off, wait till you hear about Riverside Towing.

That’s how you know it’s legit - they hate paying credit card fees on a pack of gum.
