sound advice, unfortunately it has no business on the OT, GTFO!

I know it doesn't on here. But many on here are in denial and are the very exact definition of the $30K millionaire.

When I graduated from school, my first job in "sales" - base salary was $18,000.00, paid weekly. $346.15 per paycheck, before taxes. No retirement account. I lasted three months, tops.

Moved on and got my second job paying $20,000, paid bi-weekly. Did "incredibly well" and earned nearly $46,000.00 for one year with commission.

Uphill ever since. Every job, every moment is a learning experience. No job can take away any skill set that you have learned. Use it to your advantage.

FWIW the Post Office is hiring maintenance techs and they can pay over 6 figures with overtime.

So you were a janitor and you were getting grilled for not sweeping the floor like you should have?

Fortunately you're in a good field in high demand. Young people wasting their time getting college degrees in liberal arts fields should take note. My generation is dying out and there is a huge demand for technical knowhow.

Add $4,000 to that and that's what my first job out of college at 22 paid.

Had a great day. I did a quantity takeoff for new construction and trouble shooted a computer issue for the owner.

I also left and turned my shirts in at work. I walked in and told them thanks but I got a new job.

I told the receptionist you have to know what you're worth.
