I will have my $600 K house paid for when I turn 59 at 2.25% interest.

I am Gen X but I listened to those boomers. They were right.

Why didn't you pay into social security before 30? You had no income until then?
Yet somehow he was able to buy a house at 25.
Probably from tips at the local diner

There is a point when you make so much money that you no longer have to contribute to SS.
Perhaps you have not done that yet.
I have been working since I was 16.

So you made more money at 16 then you did at 30?
There's an annual income cap, but it doesn't sound like what you're talking about.

My parent s have over $2 million in assets. Only my Mom has a college degree.
Amazing huh. Well not really.
I am old oil field trash who listened to those boomers when they told me to invest young.

But you contribute more to Medicare.

There is a cap that resets annually.
You only get around SSI by earning only passive income.

Most of us are mid-30s and 40s now. You are quite out of touch, chief.
You’re that old and still blaming people for your failures?
I’m kinda embarrassed for you.

So you benefited from being born at the right time? That is the theme of this thread if you could keep up.
Just acknowledge you got lucky and benefited. It is really simple.

Heck he probably could not afford to buy that house of his with a shoe salesmans salary these days.
There was zero chance he could even afford it back then.

Link? Where did I blame anyone?
I do very well for myself and am quite successful. I am also fortunate to have been given help along they way to get were I am.
I am not too proud to admit that I got lucky to get where I am. I am grateful for that and have and continue to help others around me.

Lottery winners are lucky.
Most successful people earned it.
There is a difference. It’s all good though. Planning a family trip to Costa Rica right now. Life is good!

Lazy, entitled leech. Boy how the turn tables.
What’s your average interest rate from 79 to present? Even at a low one, I’m over 2 mill into Medicare alone. And I’ll keep paying in on premiums after I retire.
Give me that money pretax (as you would health insurance premiums) and it’s probably 4.
Let me invest it on my own, and it’s probably 6.
And this does not even include my wife.
Now remember that I won’t get the bulk of my medical expenses paid until my latest years, which means more value accrual to the government (and you), not to me. No matter how you slice it, I’m paying for other people’s Medicare. It’s a terrible, terrible deal for me.

Other boomers or older. Because most didn’t succeed, save, pull themselves up to self sufficiency. You and the generations that follow, will have to pay the price.
