I wouldn't say to ex her out just yet. Most ppl have ties to their ex's for a while, especially if it was a long term relationship. Don't hop into a relationship with her just yet though. Keep talking to her, spend a little time around her, see what the vibe is like. If it's wrong or you suspect something, ask her about it. If she gets mad then she's either hiding something, or too immature to be in a relationship imo.

If so, this sounds like a red flag to me. At a minimum, I would wait it out at a distance to make sure that fire is completely out.

I’m friends with all of my ex’s just in case the current old lady doesn’t work out. Keep two types of plan B’s on hand. That’s my motto.

I think you should frick her ex to get even.
