What is the performance like with the V-6 and particularly the turbo charged 4 cylinder engine in a full size truck?

Wouldn’t know. Got that 6.7 diesel to go to the mall.

It will probably match your handbag pretty well

Big fan of the 108 month finance option.

Not currently in the market though could be soon for a Tacoma or Colorado. I was just having a discussion with a friend about these auto makers putting 4 cylinders in full size trucks. My first opinion is yeah it might have a little pop at 10,000 miles but once you get to 100,000 will it still any get up and go.

I have a family member who got a brand new Chevy pickup truck last year after his was totaled in a wreck.
It quit on him the other day. Dealership told him 6-8 weeks to get it fixed.

I would have neither V6 nor Turbo 4. They are for nerds.

I had two Ford V-6 EcoBoosts, and I drove them like I stole it, towed little. Most I got on I-10 was probably 22-23mpg, but it would decrease to 15-16mpg driving over minor terrain like Houston to Austin. To be brand agnostic, I'd just test drive what you think you want in the gear and engine configs you're thinking of, and light it up (not ghetto style, but merging on 59/610 style, which means, URGENCY!). Some have different acceleration delays and whatnot, which you may or may not be comfortable with.
I can spin the tires in my 2022 Ford SD 6.7, and get over 30mpg on the freeway doing ... eh., high speeds for hours. Once you get it rolling, you're essentially spending no gas. I got the lowest gear ratio (I think it was 3.3.)
I would suggest poking around on automotive sites like this one for Ford. I assume you have a brand preference, just hit up the equivalent for what you're leaning to.
Be warned that it's going to be a typical shite show of "V8 or die," "Ecoboost is Ego Boost" etc. just like all social media is these days. But, you can pick your way through the threads and find comments with value, versus vacuous stuff.

The new Colorado looks nice, but in that segment Tacoma all day.

We're getting to the point where they won't even make them anymore soon. Or you'll pay a 5k climate change tax to get one even though the gas mileage is only marginally different.

that's a tiny engine for a baw but I've got no problem with old fashioned internal combustion engines

I have a 2019 Ram and it’s the best truck I ever had. 5.7 hemi and I can get 23 on the highway if I’m not driving like an arse. When I’m towing something, I’ll get around 15

A real baw refinances the house for a new 30 and rolls the new Suburban and King Ranch in with it.

The 3.5 v6 turbos are badass. No complaints from me. This who say otherwise don’t have one to know.
