Funny story about Derrick Todd Lee...

I have posted the story about how they caught DTL several times here. The current Zachary Chief of Police , David McDavid, caught him. He suspected DTL for a while due to crimes in Zachary , including the Mebruer murder. No one listed to him until the enhanced DNA results indicated an 80 percent chance that the suspect was African American. Shortly thereafter, the lady in Lafayette survived a DTL attack and identified him as an AA make. Prior to that, BRPD suspected a white guy bc of the FBI profile and the white truck witness. McDavid convinced the AG’s office to get a warrant for DTL’s DNA. The rest is history.

What was the politics behind this?
Was it all about egos? I remember the news reporting on the whole white truck thing, but I don't remember if they were saying it was a white man in a white truck, however; for some reason I want to say the woman who was abducted in Port Allain (whose body was never found and I think was eventually dismissed as being part of the serial killer murders) that situation was reported as possibly her being pulled into a white truck by a white man.
But if the investigators had nothing concrete, why would they have dismissed the Zachary PD?

Yeah and as someone mentioned they looked into quite a few innocent people.
I don't know how many, but I do remember there was a doctor brought in and the news was reporting on it. I always wondered if that ever hurt that doctor's practice.

Like always, he did a shitty job presenting it, made inaccurate statements throughout, asked inane, pointless questions, and altogether rambled.
It doesn’t matter if the subject matter is interesting if you do an awful job laying it out.
