Dino Cinel

My father-in-law was best friends with that priest who got caught with child pornography in 2017-2018. They had dinner with him in their home and everything. He obviously doesn't like to discuss it and is convinced he was set up.

Correct. Stoval and Dino were cut from the same cloth. Many of the arc churches are like this. Same plot same Characters different cast.

Don't even get me started on this. I know, for a fact, that the associate pastors at OSC bring in $90K/year. Plus, free vehicle for them and their wife.

I hope folks who go to independent congregations like those are happy with them.

Care to go into some detail on this? Honestly curious.

As someone who grew up in a largish (for that time) Southern Baptist church, then migrated to an independent non-denominational church as I got older, then migrated to a non attendee:

Organized religions (Baptist, Methodist, Catholic, Episcopalian, etc.) have a more formal governance structure intended to sustain the church separate from a single pastor. Yeah, that stuff doesn't always work, but at least there is some oversight.

The independent churches typically (in my experience) grow up centered around a charismatic figurehead (usually the lead pastor). That can lead to cult-like behavior and following. There is less governance preventing this kind of stuff from happening in the independent non-denominational churches.

There are good ones out there for sure, but the risk is higher.

My daughter went there when she was a student at LSU so if we were visiting on a Sunday we went with her. I'm not a huge fan of modern worship services but I recognize that times have changed (not necessarily for the better imho but it is what it is). But one weekend I was there they were doing free car repairs for anyone that needed it, you didn't have to be a member. Guys (and gals) with car repair know-how volunteered their talents. I may not totally agree with their theology but that was a decent service to provide the community.

My thoughts on them are that they are a “prosperity Bible” church IMHO They are in the vein of Joel Osteen

I don’t think the message at Healing Place is ““follow me, give me your money, and you too can prosper” which is the premise of Osteen’s ministry.

Here's the thing, why does there need to be a band. Isn't church supposed to be about communicating the word of God?

Have never been to a church service that didn’t have music, having a different style of music is bad?

Can’t believe I just saw this and it’s already 6 pages.

I want to be on page one of this thread just once in my lifetime.

That’s clearly a bot. Look at the sentence structure and the fact that it’s just a bunch of random big words that don’t make a point.

It’s been happening a lot lately. No idea what it accomplishes, though.

Dino laid the wood. Mega Churches are famous for ear tickling and seeker sensitive. You'll never hear preaching against homosexuality and such. It'll be some surface level trash. That's not Christianity. It's a country club.

I knew Dino back when he was in bible college, and I think he truly had a very sincere faith and was sold out as much as anyone can be, but with leadership like that comes responsibility, and the larger the church the more attention is given to the leadership, and the more importance upon the need to keep humble and right because people are looking for you to stumble, and others are looking up to you, when they admittedly need to be looking to Christ alone, but still they put you on a pedestal.

In my experience with fallen charismatic church leaders specifically in this area alone I have come to the conclusion in my life that where you find people in search of an experience more than sound doctrine and renewing of your mind through scripture you find pastors falling and the congregations being crushed as a result.

I can list no less than 4 charismatic churches in this areas in my life than I went to where the pastors succumbed to sexual temptation and misconduct. I take absolutely no pleasure in that admission, but there is a very real lesson to be had from all of that for myself at least, and that is that the focus should always be on sound biblical doctrine alone, and not seeking experiences. Renewing your mind through scripture should always be the focus, and not looking for manifestations or signs and wonders, or some other thing that isn’t strictly centered on scripture and scripture alone.

Sexual sin is one of the most dangerous temptations there are because we are all fallen creatures, and men are very susceptible to it. I’d say if we are honest with ourselves we would admit that most of us have all wrestled with it from time to time, and some have fallen to that very temptation, regardless if it’s fornication, lust, or adultery. That’s why we have to have our roots deeply rooted in sound doctrine to stand strong, and constantly be renewing our mind through scripture. I say this not because I’ve achieved or mastered anything. FAR from it. I am human too, and through experience I find it the ONLY thing that has the power to keep you on the right path, and when we unconsciously or consciously begin chasing after feelings, and experiences, and signs and wonders, we loose focus on that which keeps us steadfast, and that’s scripture and scripture alone.

Dino Cinel was caught with child porn involving his victims. Hard to be set up when there is video of you raping children.

Let them do what they want to do. As long as they’re not bother info, why care? I’m sure the vast majority of ppl who attend are good people, as any other church.

Exactly. It would be hard for me to follow anyone that rolls this way in life. For some reason I think men that really follow the faith should live more like the high sparrow in GoT.

That’s the salary of a low level sales job that probably comes with a company car, don’t see a problem.
