Already to page 3 and it’s not yet heating up?

that makes no sense.
It makes perfect sense. They are active in the community so they are seen often by people that know nothing about the church. People are suspicious about them so they seem it is ‘infiltrating’ when all they are trying to do is help this less fortunate and spread what they believe to be the most important message of all, that God loves us and wants good things for us. You don’t have to agree with their message. You don’t have to even acknowledge them. They don’t try to destroy your life or reputation if you participate then stop. They are not like a cult in any way.

Are there any other basic sentences I can translate for you? I have a wee bit of time this morning because I’m no longer a practicing alcoholic so I get up 2 hours before work to enjoy the morning. If this means helping you, I have some time and am willing.

You guys have nothing on the Church of the Highlands threads on the Birmingham subreddit.

They have a volunteer group that brings and serves snacks at Mary Byrd Perkins chemo center with juices, bars, fruit etc... and they are there everyday.
They also have a group that brings their dogs in a couple times a week for chemo patients to pet.
Both of those services I’ve much appreciated and can speak for my several dearly departed they appreciated it as well.
Their volunteer efforts are substantial in the area and should be acknowledged for that.

Met the family at my neighbors who were members
They do some solid volunteering in the community and were there for those that needed help after Katrina and the 2016 floods
It's not my thing but to each their own
Pastors bring a lot of scrutiny on themselves when they live in multi million dollar homes and drive luxurious cars and travel and spend a lot of money. That's probably the main thing I don't like or that turns me off. But he was good at getting people to believe and the community service part is legit and he allowed his facilities to be used for community events like walks to support various charities.

I don’t know much about them but have heard of the chemo snack service. My grandfather appreciated that service so I’m thankful for them.

Um, sounds cultish. Trying to help others FOR FREE while they are in a very dark and difficult place in life. That’s a big nope from me, dawg.
I’m being sarcastic.
That’s great to hear that they’ve identified a place where they can bring a smile to someone’s face that may need a reason to smile. That would be a great way to make others feel better and your own self feel better in the process.

The church still does some great things in the community.
They get a lot of criticism for their 'reverse ATM's' although almost every church I know of has some form of tithing electronically or online at this point in time.
My thoughts on them are that they are a “prosperity Bible” church
IMHO They are in the vein of Joel Osteen

Mega church pastors are some of the slickest shisters know to man. Everyone should be skeptical of them.
Mike Hamon, pastor of Healing place, is not one of those people. At least on the surface. Dude drives a 10 year old honda accord. I think he and his wife actively try to be the antithesis to how mega church pastors normally behave. He might be stuffing millions in the mattress on the side, but he genuinely seems like a good guy.
I like healing place. People have made some good points that they volunteer heavily in the community. Not sure why anyone would criticize that.
I do find that their assistant preachers are younger guys trying to be slick and who come off disingenuous. But that's my opinion. I think most people who go there like it because it's almost the joel osteen Christianity light kinda thing.

He liked them SummerGirls just like this Dino.

Does this Dino pastor have a private Jet like Kenneth Copeland or Jesse Duplantis? If not he is not doing it right.

My family goes to HPC.
The chuch does a great job of community out reach. We are in the prisons, poor areas of Baton Rouge, and even have a church in Swaziland, Africa.
If anyone has kids, they have an amazing Childrens ministry. The kids go to a separate service that is age appropriate and home with a pamphlet to review what they learned that day.
The chuch band kind of reminds me of Dave Matthews Band because there are so many instruments. Best church band I've ever heard besides maybe Bethel or Hillsong.
Dino has been gone a long time. The pastor now, Mike Haman, is surprisingly humble for a bigger church pastor. He is proud of his little car and makes fun of himself for still driving it around.

HPC is the epitome of the seeker sensitive movement. It's entertainment wrapped up with a little bible. Sure, they do good things and say some good things, but true believers won't stay there long drinking that baby milk.

My only personal problem with them - and it actually has nothing to do with the church itself - is I had a manager who went there and she pushed and pushed all her employees to go to a service
I’m religious, and I have my own church. Almost all of my coworkers went - we were young and were promised free food
Well guess who didn’t get a raise at the end of the year!?!?!

The only megachurch allowed in BR is the Catholic Church. Every other church will be made fun of even though Catholics do some culty things too.
