How can an adult male not own at least one suit? What do you normally wear to weddings and funeral?

Looks like more of a french blue shirt. I would not wear a french blue shirt with navy pants. With that shirt/jacket combo, go with the black pants and black shoes/belt. It will be a more formal look. For summer time, I would drop the blue shirt, wear a white one with the navy pants and brown shoes.

Black is pretty much out in all cases other than paired with black.
Also, OP should have gone with a suit combo, or with a more fashionable sport coat that doesn’t look like it was intended to be part of a suit.
ETA: I just looked at that shirt. If you wear that shirt, it doesn’t matter what else you put on.
