Idk. They want you to volunteer at a kiosk so they can lowball you. And it's tough to be the first at the gate to get in line for a voucher because "expert" fliers are so militant about them.

History has shown for me that the $ offered usually keeps going up so they don't have to bump someone. Usually someone is willing for the right price to take a late flight. I have been on 300 flights the past 2 years and have never seen anyone flat out pulled off. Oddly not many have actually been overbooked enough to allow the bidding to even take place. I have been shocked honestly.

I have. Was flying on American for business and actually walked up to accept a $300 voucher and the next flight and they said since no one had accepted in time and they weren't offering anymore they would begin bumping. A few minutes later I was the one who got bumped - and I got nothing from them for it except a later flight home.

How much later? And was the bump because of an oversold situation or weight/balance? And was it on a 50 seat regional jet?
Paid fare or contract/non-rev/miles?

Probably 10 minutes or so. Long enough that I was pissed that they wouldn't have just given me the voucher. They said something like they didn't have authorization to go higher, and if no one accepted within a certain period of time they would bump. It wasn't a massive inconvenience for me because it was a direct flight and there were like three more that day. Still annoying.
Don't really know if it was oversold or weight balance, it was several years ago so if I knew then I can't remember. It was one of those regional jets though so knowing what I do now, I guess weight. Was paid fare though, I was traveling for work, which is another reason I was not super inconvenienced. It was like a Wednesday afternoon or something.

Sounds like weight/balance issue. Which isn't an oversold situation so doesn't qualify for cash compensation per DOT rules. That's why they couldn't go higher on the volunteer list because it was just a courtesy.
Also the 50 seat regional jets have other strange rules related to them since they aren't really profitable and a lot of them are serving EAS airports.

Yeah, I still fly decently often but nt as much as I used to. That is still the only time it has happened to me. However I will say that soon after that I got gold aadvantage status. Flying was significantly better after that

I wish we could get some Delta Connection ERJ-145s to BTR. One row of seats on the left side for the win.
It doesn't really matter though since I fly on the 717 mainline flight every time.

I received a $1,000 voucher about a year ago. Orthopedic Surgeon conference in New Orleans, flight full of OT ballers, nobody needed voucher, so I took flight to BR and got a ride to NOLA.
Went to Omaha a few weeks ago, Delta offered $1,200 because last minute flight full of fans and nobody would take later flight or would miss the game.
These are two extreme cases where an event was going on at the flight's destination, so nobody would give up their seat. Still didn't reach your $1,300 max though.
