Question about a large party at a restaurant

I’m at my girlfriend’s dad’s 50th bday party. Her mom is paying but when I heard where we would be going, I knew exactly what I wanted from there. It’s a rather large party so the menus aren’t the same as the regular menu.
Would it be uncouth for me to tell the waitress to put my order on a separate ticket and pay for my own if what I wanted wasn’t on the party menu and went ahead and ordered it anyway?

The staff will prep up for making the set menu and hopefully it all goes like clockwork. When you have special order on big parties it’s not undooable but it does screw with the flow and if you end up with several people wanting special orders it can go to shite. Plus it’s tacky as hell. Just suck it up and order what’s on the set menu provided and enjoy the company.

BBQ place, was gonna get the pork chop because it’s one of the best pork chops I’ve ever had. I just didn’t see why it would’ve been such a big deal to order my own and pay for myself and my gf.
