I can’t even imagine what kind of trouble we would have gotten into had we been taken to NYC in 8th grade with nothing but teachers for supervision. A night in jail would’ve probably been a given

Why even go to either of those yank places ?

Because they are trying to brainwash them with their liberal influence. If you don’t want your kid being the next poster child for antics I’d just make em stay home.

Eta: LOL at these downvotes who thought I was being serious.

Pfft. My 8th grade class spent a week at the secret Nazi moonbase.

Seriously though let him go. I went to D.C. In the fifth grade and it was great.

Went to DC in 8th grade with my GT class.

Don’t remember hardly any of it. Wish I could go as an adult.

Point: don’t waste your money

We went to DC in middle school. Vaguely remember the famous sites. I do remember being constipated for the first time in my life, because I held a shite in for too long on the bus ride there (didn’t want to shite on the bus), and couldn’t shite for another day or two once we got to our hotel room

I went on one of those to NYC. 8th grade. Went into u.n..
Was inspired. Wasn't until high school I learned that nothing gets done due to veto by opposing powers.

Haha, same thing happened to me on a 6th grade trip to Orlando in 1986. Wouldn't shite on the bus, then couldn't shite at the hotel. Most memorable part of the trip was while my friends were watching the killer whales at seaworld, I was in the bathroom making what felt like a splash big enough to rival shamu. I pity the poor bastard that had to break up that mighty whale to get that toilet working again.

Also, I accidentally knocked over ed begley jr's beer.

Do you want a hot 23 year old teacher having sex with your son? Because that’s what goes on during these trips. Teacher’s Unions have been setting up student-teacher ritualistic orgies disguised as overnight field trips for decades.

How long is the trip? Either Boston or New York could be a great experience for sightseeing plus some education, but both? That's either a 2 week trip, or each city is going to get an awful lot left out.

Is it a packaged tour or are the teachers running the whole show?

Eighth grade? Yikes, they better have every single second regimented and interesting, or somebody's going to get hurt.

But do it, regardless. That's a great opportunity for the kid.

Tell him his mission in Boston is to find both the Infinite Corridor, and the remnants of the Combat Zone. Take pictures of each.

Both my kids went on that trip. (Not at the same time).

They loved it and still talk about it today.

We went to Baton Rouge on our 8th grade field trip.

Hell, it seemed pretty exciting at the time.

I did 8th grade trip to DC/NY back in the 90's... Yeah, we did some stupid stuff when we snuck out of our rooms but it wasn't anything over the top. The usual fooling around with female classmates, sneaking liquor from the mini bar, horseplay at the hotel pool, smoking, etc.

I'll be honest, our chaperones spent a lot of time at the hotel bar in the evenings, but this was mid 90's and we weren't special snowflakes. Most of my classmates were already well traveled so it's not like we were complete naive jackasses who were going wild on their first trip without parents.
