I knew a kid in 8th grade who went to an out of state field trip to Memphis on 4/20, and they all smoked big doinks

My daughter is in 8th, and her class is going to DC at end of the month. She won't remember shite either 30 yrs later.
She’ll remember getting finger banged by Brayden in the back of a bus.
Other than that, you’re probably right.

I went on a trip to Quebec in 7th grade at our public middle school.
Got caught in a hotel in Cleveland playing Strip Poker in 1 of the girl group rooms after "lights out". We all got Recommended for Expulsion. Ended up suspended for about a week. My mom beat my arse with a wooden spatula. Pretty much a running joke ever since.
So, yeah...send your kid.

As you have read many posters on here went on those types of trips and you see how they turned out. I wouldn’t recommend sending your kid

Suggest they visit Grand Isle instead.

These are all about the teachers. My parents both taught HS and they would partner with travel agencies and do yearly trips and have their whole trip paid for
Did it for 10 years straight. They got to go to Europe 3 times for free as long as they got their minimum numbers of students signed up
Pretty genius

It sounds like what your really asking is if 8th grade seems to young for an overnight out of state trip?
I know lots of parents are uncomfortable for many reasons. Our daughters school starts doing overnight trips in 4th grade and out of state (airplane travel) at 6th. Lots of parents aren’t on board. Cost, risk, fears, etc.
My personal opinion is that they are usually well chaperoned, hotels have a designated hired security guard, and most of the trip is ran through a tour company that does hundreds of these a year. The tour companies do an excellent job.
Imo it’s a great experience for the kids and something that is very much needed in this day and age. It’s actually a shame parents smother their kids so much.

Goddamn I hate those school groups. Every summer like clockwork I have to deal with them.
But then again, when I was their age I was one of those annoying little shits, so it’s hard to get too annoyed by them.

We went to Philadelphia. It's good to take those type of trips because when I take trips now I never make time to see everything that is forced upon you on those trips. If you go with your child you will ruin it for them.

My oldest went to New York and DC in eighth grade three years ago. They did lots of educational stuff and also saw a play on broadway. It was $2000 for 8 days (public school trip fyi) but she had a lot of fun and got to do and see some cool stuff. My youngest will be in eighth grade next year and she decided not to go because none of her circle of friends is going. Will probably take them to the beach that week next May instead.

Kind of amazing how everyone on the OT did drugs, drank, and had sex on all of their middle school field trips.

only thing I remember from my 8th grade trip was fingering and blow job stories.
You're being naive if you think there won't be shenanigans going on.

Our oldest just went to NYC with JPAS. Had a great time and she loves NYC, but they didn't leave Midtown th entire time though.
