I don't think there is anything all that remarkable about European Royal Houses except for the sheer amount of inbreeding and consanguinity. Certainly, they aren't the best representations of Western Civilization, because, as a whole, they represented a regressive institution wholly unsuited to modern population dynamics.

I am sorry to hear about anybody dying.
But I feel the same way about England's monarchy that our revolutionary forefathers did. Needs to be disbanded, divided and given back to the people.
Houses used to war against each other. Now it seems the last one to sit in the chair won...reigns in perpetuity. Should be disbanded immediately.
