Twitter says "The King" and queen consort will stay at Balmoral tonight and arrive in London tomorrow. I guess he's King.

He actually gets to choose whatever name he wants from his long line of middle names.

On another note, I'm about to hammer England as favorites for the World Cup.

I think he’s king immediately but he’s technically able to choose his royal name at coronation

Queen Elizabeth I ruled for nearly 45 years.

Queen Elizabeth II reigned for 70.

Elizabeths tend to have longevity.

Yes. Charles is King, presumably Charles III unless he selects otherwise. He will be officially announced as King tomorrow after meeting the Accession Council and will address the nation.

He won’t be coronated for a few months.

Doubt there will ever be another 70 year run like that again.

Just not expecting a forum of American Men to be languishing over this

I wouldn't say we are languishing over it, but it is very interesting from a history aspect. She's the most prominent monarch in the world, and it isn't often someone of her status in the world dies.

Sad. Amazing Queen. I cannot imagine the personal sacrifices that woman has made for the sake of the Crown.

Wut?

No one is doing that.

It's a huge historic day when a head of state like this dies, especially one of her stature. Don't worry, you can still have your truck nuts and monkeypox threads today too.
