I wouldn't say we are languishing over it, but it is very interesting from a history aspect. She's the most prominent monarch in the world, and it isn't often someone of her status in the world dies.

Fair enough

It's a huge historic day when a head of state like this dies, especially one of her stature. Don't worry, you can still have your truck nuts and monkeypox threads today too.

We will know for sure in about 40 minutes. It is going to be very odd considering she has been the monarch for the entirety of the majority of people's lives.

Seeing Charles on the money will be weird.

Agreed. I have no personal sense of reverence and awe for the British monarchy. But from a sheer historical perspective it is a bit fascinating when you realize she had been the Queen for so long. 70 years. She took the throne at 25 years old. Her successor, (now) King Charles will take the throne at nearly 74!

I mean, she went from a fairly normal childhood to the next in line when her Uncle abdicated.

Personally, she sacrificed quite a bit. She really only ever wanted to be a horse woman and live our her life that way. She lived under the biggest microscope for decades. And at times to the detriment of her family.

She always seemed like a cool woman and a tough old bird. God Save the Queen, RIP.
