U2 11-26-87 PMAC, full concert. This is where the official video for Sunday Bloody Sunday was recorded.

Missed the show but it was so loud - entire show could be heard by Hodges / Hatcher dorms

Why would I go to a concert where there is an AIDS ridden person as the center of attention?

You seem fun.

And stupid.

The concert was in 1980. Mercury's HIV status didn't come into question until the mid to late 80s.

ZZ Top and AC/DC concerts at the Centroplex had rampant drug use and debauchery, so the scheduled Ozzy Osborne concert was cancelled and hard rock/metal bands were no longer options for the arena.

D.A. Ossie Brown also kept Last Tango in Paris and The Life of Brian from being shown in Baton Rouge, and he'd ban certain issues of Hustler from being sold in B.R.

He'd run on an anti-drug, anti-porn platform. This was the 80's when chains like 7-11 were strong-armed into pulling every dirty mag (including Playboy) from their shelves.

I was so pissed when Ossie cancelled the Ozzie show. Cost me my chance to see the great Randy Rhodes on guitar. As you alluded too, Ossie was on this huge Baptist Preacher kick back then to clean up the city. After the Advocate ran a front page story of rampant drug use at the AC/DC concert, he banned Ozzie for being a "Devil Worshiper" having recently bitten the head off of a live Bat on stage. He also implemented all the "Blue Laws" prohibiting alcohol sales and he shut down all the all night bars across the river.........somehow.

I was there.

I didn't think it was a great concert. A lot of the crowd left before the end of the show. Just telling you how it was.

Ossie Brown successfully defended a black soldier ftom St Francisville accused in the My Lai massacre. This earned him street cred in the Af. Am. community which he rode into the DA's office.

A pledge brother of mine claimed to have been a high school narc for Ossie. He was a well known bullshitter so not sure if serious

Zappa was an awesome talent. Very underrated/under appreciated by the “ mainstream.”

One of my frat bros was an EBR deputy that seemed to work every concert at the Assembly Center. He would always tell us to go to a certain door and he’d let us in for the shows.
