I was there. Around that time we had Van Halen, Foreigner, Boston and many other like bands coming through every month.

I wonder how much that ticket cost in 1980?

Baton Rouge and LSU in particular had an epic concert scene up through the mid 90s.

Would have loved to see Mellencamp back in the day. Always liked him.

No way it was better than WCW Thunder in 1998.

I was there. Great show. I bought a t-shirt where the mic looked like a long 20 foot dick. I sensed something was amiss, lol.

You must not have been around in the 80's when Ossie Brown shut down the rock concerts at the Centroplex and put B.R. on the map of places for music acts to avoid.

Close. $9.50. My stub has the price on it.

Lotta bang for the buck. Still to this day the best arena concert I've ever seen.

No they didn't.

ELO headlined at the LSU Assembly Center in September of '78 and in October of '81. They didn't play Baton Rouge in '80.

The PMAC took over (and was really always the premier Baton Rouge concert venue) up through the mid 90s.

I saw Queen in 1978 on Halloween night at the Municipal Auditorium in New Orleans.

Though my next 2 concerts were at the Centroplex - KISS in 1979 and Styx in 1980.

I seem to remember that it was Pat Screen and his merry Baker Bible Thumper's that shut it down. This was in response to the AC/DC, For Those About to Rock Tour concert in 84 or 85. I was there for that one and it was a grade a shite show show but I also had front row tickets to Ozzy Osbourne a few weeks later and with that concert pending they moved fast to cancel the Ozzy Concert. He ended up playing at the fair grounds but it pretty much sucked as a venue.
at least that is how I remember that shite going down.

Shreveport had some great concerts in the 80’s. Both at Hirsch Coliseum and Municipal Auditorium.

I bought the t-shirt that simply had the face that was on the bass drum.
I cheered when Freddie announced they were taking a break and he was going backstage “for a blow job.” Never thought to think he might be the giver, lol.
