Been there. Peaceful. If right thing to do, don’t fret. Does not make it easier but rest assured you are doing the right thing.

May your dog rest in peace and you have peace about it.

Here we go again. Why do we get these sappy threads every few months? Go cry on FB with the women and children. Life is hard and it ain’t because your dog died. Get another one, treat it well, enjoy it and realize it’s not going to live forever. Nobody needs to hear your sob story.

Actually, people on this board may need to heard it and be comforted by it. It is hard to lose a pet, sharing the grief makes it more bearable.

We all can’t be macho tough guys like you…

Who hurt you? What awful pit bull tore your soul out?

Losing a dog is something even the strongest men can understand, how it hurts. Dogs (all pets really) can teach us how to grieve the losses in life. More so because we know, in the natural flow, that they will not outlast us. That we will bury Them

Hell, John Wick is about a damn manly sort of man who loses his dog.

Dogs are a lot easier to love than people.

I had to put mine down this past tuesday night. She was only 3 and got bone cancer in her hip. It took a perfectly healthy dog and reduced her to almost nothing in 6 weeks. It is terrible experience. All I can offer is lean on the fact you know that it is the right thing to do for your pup and they will not be suffering anymore.

I would highly recommend staying in the room with them or even holding them while they put him/her to sleep. I did with mine, and it made me feel just a little bit better knowing she was being held by her human instead of spending their last moments in a cold room with people he/she had never met before.

God damn man you got me tearing up at work. My dog is 15 and it’s not going to be too long before I’m in that same boat. Never thought of it like this before. I can’t let her final moments be with a stranger. This is gonna suck but someone that she loves needs to be there with her.

Dogs are great pets for your family. Remember your good times and your pet had a good home. I would recommend getting another pet for your family as soon as possible.
