Totally douchey. If you have a great FICO score and a nice assed rewards credit card, why would you want to brag anyways? Just live your life, continue to do what makes you successful, and don’t advertise your status to anyone. Only two things will happen: 1) it will make you seem pretentious and douchey, 2) it draws attention to yourself that someday could be unwanted and dangerous attention, like say by a thief.

On the other hand, if you’re proud of your accomplishment and want to be recognized by your professional title..who cares? It’s a title you’ve earned, take pride in it. How you act and treat people makes you a douche, not the title you keep. Whether it be Dr., GM, CFO, or PFC.

ETA: not a doctor

Absolutely not douchey. My credit card reads:

IonaTiger, Esq., JD, Attorney & Counsellor at Large, BA, ESPN, LSMFT, LMNOP, HMFWIC.

I cut out a number of other "identifiers" as I did not want to appear ostentatious.

Very douchey. Why are Drs this way?

I know ppl much more accomplished than Doctors, but they feel no need to advertise it. Napoleon complex.

My card says Baron Lord Foshizzle, Commander of the Seven Seas.

Commoners think that takes up too much room, but I'm too good for account numbers.

Based on the original definition of the title, and its history those who have earned the PhD probably have more right to the title than physicians. The term "doctor" whether from Latin or middle English means "to teach", or "teacher/instructor" it was used to identify those awarded the PhD starting in the mid 16th century. Those educated in medicine were called "physicians", they did not adopt the term doctor until the 18th century.

if you have a legit PhD, it is allowable to use 'Dr.' wherever it suits you. Based on the history of the title, a PhD has better claim to it than a mere physician).
That being said, I don't put 'Dr.' on my credit cards.

So if you are dying and someone steals your wallet while you are dying, they know they should be ok not getting caught using your credit cards?

It's ok. I've never discontinued usage of the title "Master" for all of my official correspondence.
