St. Tammany is getting lenient on crime. Swartz will not recieve my vote.

One year in prison seems way too light.
For a first offender? Meh.
Not saying what she did was OK, but very few people go to jail for their first offense.
As another pointed out, that's part of the problem. However, I'd be okay with this reduced sentence if we took this a step further. It seems as though crimes committed by repeat offenders are prosecuted individually without consideration of history. With bs like this case, how about grant this on the condition that if any significant crimes are committed within the time frame of what the original sentencing was, she goes back to jail to serve that full sentence, plus time for the additional sentence for the additional crime, without the chance for parole. Additionally, grant some condition that after x amount of time (maybe the probationary period), the offender doesn't have to list it as felony on job applications anymore. At the full term of what that initial sentence would have been, if that have been a good person, with no other crimes committed, completely expunge/destroy the record on that person. This should be for felonies and such. If it's traffic violations or whatever, the fine tunings of this would have to be worked out, but you get the idea, and certain things shouldn't count.

A more appropriate and harsher sentence would have been no donuts or fried chicken for 5 years for her.

what if i did this to you?
I don’t know what SlowFlo would do if you beat hell out of him; but I would guess many others on the forum would at least buy you a beer for doing it.

Don't blame the judge. The DA accepted this deal.
While admitting this publicly.

A chunk of the teacher’s hair was pulled from her head and DA Montgomery says an eye specialist diagnosed her as being “one step away from a detached retina.”
I won’t vote for him going forwards either.

Was in St Tammany criminal court for the first time in a few years recently and came away thoroughly unimpressed by the ADA’s. This confirms how far that office has fallen. Pathetic plea deal when you have the video of the assault.

Had a st Tammany ADA call me asking me to testify the day before a trial I had no clue even existed.

Jackson will serve her year in prison without the benefit of probation or parole.
Unless, Covid makes a comeback and then she’s free 5 weeks from now. It happened before, hopefully it doesn’t happen again.

Guess she'll be taking a gap year before college.

St. Tammany DA office is a clown show.

People gonna bitch, but this is correct. She pleads, gets any amount of jail time, and has to pay a bunch of stuff on probation when out. What more could I give you, says any DA.
