Putrid Tammany Parish Student/Animal who attacked handicapped teacher last year sentenced

quote:

COVINGTON, La. (WVUE) - A Covington High School student who attacked a teacher in a TikTok challenge gone wrong has pleaded guilty to second-degree battery and cruelty to the infirmed charges.
Video captured Jackson, then 18 years old, assaulting a 64-year-old wheelchair-bound teacher and throwing her to the ground after the dismissal bell rang in October 2021. The teacher was badly bruised and was taken to a hospital. She was released after a couple of days.
Judge Richard Swartz sentenced Jackson to five years in prison for each charge with all but one year suspended. Jackson will serve her year in prison without the benefit of probation or parole. The victim was granted a lifetime protective order.

Following her release, Jackson will serve three years of probation with anger management classes and mental health counseling.

Officials say the teacher suffered lacerations and bruises on both arms, trauma to the head, a concussion, trauma to the neck, a fractured rib, and a sprained wrist. A chunk of the teacher’s hair was pulled from her head and DA Montgomery says an eye specialist diagnosed her as being “one step away from a detached retina.”

Human garbage. One year in prison seems way too light. What's the point of suspending the sentence?(I sound like the mortician in The Godfather).

For a first offender? Meh.

Not saying what she did was OK, but very few people go to jail for their first offense.

She got a light sentence because of her white privilege

Did you read in the article the extent of devastating injury caused to the victim or the fact that she has a long history of violence?

DID YOU?

It angers me that all our founding fathers (Washington, Jackson, etc.) bed down with their help to come up with generational bottom feeders like this.

A year in prison isn’t nothing. More would’ve been better but if she fricks up it could end up being 5 years and she’ll have a few years before she’s clear of that. A relevant story to compare it to would be that Suarez guy who beat the shite out of an old man in Mandeville. Seems like that guy could get off lighter than this so l don’t think her punishment is lighter than usual.

The life time TPO is huge.

That student comes anywhere near her, student gets arrested and any school the teacher works in has to uphold it and the student can not be enrolled in the school

This wasn't a normal first offense. She was sentenced to multiple 5 year sentences, and will only serve one year? And only 3 years probation? If you think that's appropriate, you have no sense of justice.
